Most of the road has recently been resurfaced; however, sections that were already in good condition were left untouched. The stretch approaching Fanhams Hall from Ware has been damaged by the resurfacing machinery, leaving deep gouges in the tarmac. These are likely to deteriorate further and develop into larger potholes.

Opposite the entrance to Wicken Fields there is a considerable amount of bamboo which has either been planted on the verge or allowed to spread from the garden behind. It will soon force its way through the tarmac and on the road if not destroyed.
