Tree needs felling or pollarding
and footway repaired
This tree (outside 218) has become overgrown, excessively tall in relation to the houses, with a canopy spanning the width of our house and the adjoining semi, with overhanging branches on both properties, constantly shedding twigs, leaves and needles over our and the neighbouring property. The root ball is well above ground level and significantly lifting and breaking up the footpath, with numerous breaks, cracks and eruptions over the 15 metre tarmacked section of the footpath. We are concerned that further root growth will invade our property and cause damage. Additionally, there is excessive foliage, with large thorns, growing over 6 foot tall, around the base of the tree, overhanging the footpath, and presenting a safety risk to footpath users. Critically the foliage makes it difficult/impossible to see approaching traffic without stepping into the road when using the adjacent pedestrian refuge crossing, and blocks the view of oncoming traffic when trying to exit our driveway by car. Please can this tree be cut down (as recently done, 21 July, with one tree in adjacent Chaucer Road), the foliage removed, and the footpath restored to a safe and level surface. If the tree is not felled, please can it be heavily pollarded (as done with two trees, 21 July, in Chaucer Road), foliage growth around the base removed and remedial work put in place for a long term fix to making the footbath safe and level, and addressing foliage and root growth. We would note that previous work to tarmac over the footpath without providing a long term fix to root growth, has proved ineffective and needs a more permanent solution, ie, the tree to be cut down.

Two of the branches broke off and is lying down.
7th August
This tree branches broke off a week before the school shut for the summer break, and all Bexley council can do is to put tape around it. After almost 4 weeks no one attended despite your apparent care for the tress in Bexley. "Trees are an important part of Bexleys identity as a green London Borough, and Bexleys Urban Forest is key in improving the urban environment for people as well as wildlife by providing urban cooling, reduced stormwater runoff and cleaner air.
With climate change and more pressures on our tree stock, the Council seeks to conserve as many of its trees for as long as possible, therefore only essential tree work is undertaken, and trees are removed when they are dead, dying, dangerous or causing unacceptable damage to private or public property."
Take note do nothing - Reform is coming.

Youths on illegal electric bikes
6th August
It has become an all to apparent problem with youths riding electric bikes along the footpaths at speeds exceeding 40mph. These types of bikes are illegal (250kw/15.5mph is the maximum allowed legal rating). It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or worse. I myself was subject to a near miss and a victim of abusive language while walking along the path.
