Unsafe Works - City Fibre again!!!
10th August
I am reporting this immediately, due to the complete lack of consideration for public safety at the City Fibre works outside Castle Balti on Sunday afternoon.
The problems included: 1. Footway closed but no safe route provided for pedestrians. I was informed that pedestrians should be crossing to the opposite footway, however there were no signs to indicate this, which resulted in most people walking past in the two lanes of busy traffic waiting at the traffic signals. I cannot emphasise how dangerous this was on a busy Sunday afternoon!!! 2. There appeared to be an unsafe crossing point provided at the St Johns end of the working area and it was not clear whether pedestrians should be crossing here (across 3 lanes of busy traffic) or at the adjacent traffic signals. The crossing point had a ramp for disabled persons on one side of the road, but not the other! Maybe it was provided so they could get past in the busy traffic lane? Who knows? 3. Working areas not fenced off, so people could easily walk into the main working area which had an open trench. When I questioned this, a site operative moved the barrier on the footway to prevent this and blocked access to the adjacent newsagent. There was also a further small area closer to the St Johns junction which was not properly fenced off.
To compound this, I was was repeatedly sworn at by the site operatives when pointing these issues.
This is yet another complaint I have had to make about City Fibre works in Warwick. They clearly have no idea about pedestrian safety and no respect for the public. Warwickshire County Council urgently need to address these continuing safety issues with City Fibre works in the Warwick area.

Faulty and noisy manhole cover
5th August
This manhole cover has been making excessive noise when cars drive over it for months and months. Ive always lived around the area but now I live closer to it its a lot more noticeable. At night when its hot I have to have the windows open and i get woken up by cars driving over it. It is the circled cover in the image on Saltisford almost directly opposite Victoria Street. Id really appreciate it if it could be replaced or fixed and Im sure the local residents would too :) Thank you in advance!

Hedge blocking cycle lane

The short section of cycle path from the A46 island towards Leek Wootton has tree branches forcing cyclists prematurely into the roadway. This is a riding safety hazard which could cause impact injury, or cause riders to have an accident trying to avoid the obstacles.

Overhanging trees causing obstruction
20th July
At multiple points along the combined pedestrian / cycle path from the Woodloes island all the way past Guys Cliffe and the Saxon Mill through to the A46 interchange island, this path has low overhanging tree branches that are at head height for cyclists. This is a riding safety hazard which could cause impact injury, or cause riders to have an accident trying to avoid the obstacles. This is worse should pedestrians and riders have to pass each other. There are too many to identify individually, but they create a real hazard.
