Giant Hogweed growing again - needs herbicide treating
6th June
I reported Giant Hogweed here last year and WCC Highways said it would be treated with herbicide. It's now growing again very vigorously. Please ensure that this is treated with systemic herbicide before it goes to seed - it's already spread to a larger area than it was last year. On the verge just at the back of the kerb on the north side of the carriageway.

2 dead birch trees within falling distance of carriageway

There are two very dead (and now decaying) birch trees on the south side of the carriageway at this location which have the potential to fall into the carriageway when they come down.
Should they fail in the strong south westerly prevailing wind they would fall across the A45.
They are very dead and brittle.

I've received the following update_
Investigation: Completed (Highways to Monitor, Routine Inspection Programme) - Thank you for your enquiry. and for bringing this matter to our attention , regarding concerns about the drainage in this right of way .we can confirm that there are no immediate safety concerns found during our recent inspection. Given the rural surface , these can become rather saturated, therefore,we recommend suitable footwear for traversing the area . how ever please be assured that we will monitor this route more closely in the future .
I think you must be getting confused re the location - there is no bridge there to get saturated. For much of the winter this brook runs 2-3 foot deep in water - it needs a bridge crossing of some sort.
Even after spring and summer rains it runs to a foot deep as all the runoff from the surrounding fields and Barby hill come into this watercourse...

Impassible when wet and wire fence is dilapidated

The route here used to be passible at any time of year but 3 or so years ago someone erected a wire fence with a narrow pedestrian gate in it. This soon dilapidated and now just gets in the way meaning all the use is in one line which turns to quagmire when it rains, This gateway is now preventing use of the path by mobility scooters and pushchairs which it used to be fine for.

Broken style - can it be replaced with a gate?

The rails on the fence and style here are broken. I wondered if rather than this being repaired it could replaced with a pedestrian gate? This way it would be accessible to pedestrians who have limited movement and also those in a mobility scooter.

M45 Slip road roundabout on to A45
8th May
The road surface of this roundabout has been absolutely terrible for years and would like to know when/if there are plans to resurface and fill in the holes/large cracks. I have lived locally for 20+ years and I don't ever recall it being repaired. The damage it must be doing to vehicles, particularly tyres must be high. There is a high volume of traffic that use this roundabout. Its the worse roundabout I think I have ever seen. Many thanks

At some point someone has lost part of their load on the road, it must have been a little while ago as the majority of the commonly driven parts are clear but there are some rocks and gravel around the roundabout that if miss judged could cause some damage such as chipped windscreen or an accident

Street light flashing on and off

The first street light on the east side (Daventry side) of the junction, on the north side of the A45 is flashing on and off all night and has been doing this for a couple of weeks or so now.
