FIXMYSTREET IN YO61 1DQ
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of YO61 1DQ:
Potholes due to flooding/Hydraulic action of continually flooded road, 11th April
Potholes at the side of the road and now appearing in the road as the road has been flooded for several months as the drainage ditches both sides are full/blocked. This flooded water is been driven through all the time and leading to potholes at the side of the road by Hydraulic action.
This bit of road is busy with cars, tractors/trailers & a bus every hour in each direction. The large vehicles over this flooded section of road and the resulting hydraulic action do not help the general situation.
A simple bit of maintenance on the drainage in this area will stop the accelerated damage to the road surface by the flooded road section hydraulic action.
Treat the root cause please not the symptoms.

Obstruction of public footpath, 16th January
Obstruction of public footpath.
Public footpath details: Route Code: 10.141/2/3 Parish: Ham - Sutton on the Forest. Stile at OS Grid Ref: SE590629. Goose Farm to Hinterlands Common, off Goose Lane, Sutton on the Forest. Map extracts attached with annotated photos to explain the issue fully.
The Stile over the fence is blocked for practical pedestrian use by an electric animal fence (not known if the electric wire is 'live'). The fence has a standard practice insulated piece of tube fitted to the horizontal spar at the location of the stile to enable the electric wire to go through and hence allow people to use the stile but it is not used. In this instance the insulated tube is being bypassed by the electric wire, which stands proud of the fence by approx 12 inches thereby in effect stopping legitimate use of the stile and therefore the public footpath by use of an 'engineered' obstruction. The electric fence wire is at a height that is higher than the stile step which also further complicates reasonable access. In my opinion this is a discrete and subtle 'deliberate act' to prevent public access. It has to be a 'deliberate act' as the insulated tube is there and not used - why? otherwise it is purely incompetence, I suspect the first! It is a long way around this deliberate obstruction of a public footpath.
Please get this resolved with the land owner as a matter of priority.

Under road water leak, 20th June
The appears to be a leak eminating from under the road, raising to the surface, running down the slope on the road and then into a convenient manhole. It is obvious that there appears to be some sort of water leak here. This needs to be repaired before significant vioding occurs and makes the repair much bigger than it needs to at tge present.

'SLOW' painting worn off at 6x locations, only 2x left and they are poor to read!, 16th April
The 'SLOW' painting was painted at either end of the 40 mph section between the 30 mph section of Huby and the 30 mph section of sutton 500 metres to the east of this location. There were originaly 8x locations now only 2x are barely visible.
They were painted at only a couple of years ago along Bell Lane/ Sutton Road/ Skates Lane/ Huby Road from OS Grid Ref: SE56656532 Eastwards to SE57926470
They were there so must be required to keep road to relevant DOT specification, obviously not inspected/maintained in a suitable manner otherwise they would be there!

Large Pothole, 10th April
No photos as yet! Large Pothole, more like a trench with 3x traffic cones in it, problem is it is full of water so nobody knows how deep it is until you have to drive through them when another vehicle comes the other way! This whole section of road for 50 metres westwards from this point has other location where there are potholes. In addition the drainage for this section of road is appalling leading to the damage in the first place. The poor drainage and hence standing water, passage of agricultural vehicles and a bus every hour in each direction makes the problem worse.A full survey and suitable mitigations for this section of road is required.

Pothole, 14th March
Large pothole growing daily. This located in front of the post box. The previous repair patch in which this pothole exists was only laid last year. The whole patch is breaking up, obviously a top quality piece of workmanship undertaken at the time, yet again! Please repair the whole previous repair patch before it is riddled with multi visited and breaking up patches in the near future.

Large pothole, 14th March
This large pothole is getting worse. It is located approx 20 metres east of the monkey puzzle tree on skates lane, Huby. This pothole has been reported and 'repaired' only 2 weeks ago. It must be very hard to undertake a repair to something and make the situation worse! The report I made previously did state that a full and proper repair needs to be made at this location and not just another patch on top of existing breaking up patch. It is possible to see 2x layers of road in this location so the patches in place now will fail very quickly.
This constant patching is a waste of public money, please repair it properly so only one visit is required.
As can be seen in the photos attached this is an accident site waiting to occur for pedal cycles and motorcycles. It should be noted that this is a well used cycling route. In addition the whole road surface for approx 70 metres east at this location is breaking up and requires a propoer repair solution as also previously reported to yourselves!

Signpost pointing incorrect direction, 5th January
Some clown/joker has pushed the signpost for 'Stillington' around by 90 degress so that it now reads up Sands Lane towards Easingwold and not down Stillington Road. I have corrected it to the correct direction, this has occurred twice now within a couple of months.
The sign is too tall for someone to hit thier head on it, these incidents have not been accidental they are a delibrate act.
The metal band holding the sign onto the pole is slack and can be turned by hand. It needs tighening up securely. What is required is a pin/bolt inserting all the way through the metal band and post together to stop it being turned again. It has confused a few motorists until I corrected it.
