A19 2x Abandoned vehicles and someone living in the layby, 5th April

Fri, 05 Apr 2024 13:31:50 +0100
54.055872 -1.178968

A19 Layby at the East side of the road (Southbound): It appears that someone is living in the layby on the A19 on the eastern side (southbound) of the road. OS Grid Ref: SE538625, Postcode: YO30 1BB. This is the same individual as last time as its the same vehicles that has been here for years on and off! Well they are back after spending a year somewhere else! I am sure they are council tax paying subjects, Oh they cannot be as there is actual property/house here is there, only a layby! When you get the court order to move them off please ensure that is not time bound ie. they are excluding for ever! If someone is 'living' here and by evidence it appears that they are: 1: What are the arrangements for toilet waste, grey water, rubbish etc, this is a public health issue or the general public? 2: The layby exists so drivers can take a break/rest, as this fleet of vehicles is parked there, now a driver will be put off taking a break here and is more liable to have an accident further down the road due to the facilities being used for purposes they should not. Who takes the liability for this? The council? By providing the facility of the layby, but yet it is not available for legitimate use by the general public because the council has failed to remove persons illegally living there? The council needs to take suitable legal action to move them on from this location on a permanent basis! The following vehicles are mostly/always parked at this location and must logically belong to the same person. Black Ford Mondeo Estate AJ51MHA MOT: 13 April 2023 - now expired Tax: until 1 November 2023 - now expired Insurance: This vehicle is NOT showing as insured on the Motor Insurance Database today (05/04/2024). So therefore this is an illegal vehicle for 3x offences (No MOT, Tax or Insurance) and parked vehicle on the public highway! Should this not by towed away as per the adverts! This vehicle is classed as abandoned using the government and council guidance. Red Land Rover Discovery KG53ZGV MOT: 11 May 2023 - now expired Tax: until 1 May 2024 Insurance: insured when checked on 05/04/2024 So therefore this is an illegal vehicle (no MOT) and parked vehicle on the public highway! Should this not by towed away as per the adverts! This vehicle is classed as abandoned using the government and council guidance. Crimson Rover P514NVC MOT: expired 1 August 2024 Tax: until 1 August 2024 Insurance: insured when checked on 05/04/2024 Grey Citreon Van MX66GWW MOT: 25 January 2024 Tax: until 1 January 2025 Insurance: insured when checked on 05/04/2024 Red Foden Truck & Cream Trailer E657OWT MOT: 'No details held by DVLA' Tax: 1 March 2025 Insurance: insured when checked on 05/04/2024

Parking on double yellow lines directly outside school gates preventing children crossing safely., 9th December

Mon, 09 Dec 2019 09:29:43 +0000
54.040703 -1.232496

For years I've taken my children to Linton on ouse school, and for years this has been a problem. Countless news letters addressed to families and parents have attempted to address the issue but appears to have fallen on deaf ears. Parking on double yellows is the issue, but not only that it's the parking on double yellows on a tight bend directly outside the school gates. This is not only illegal but incredibly dangerous for children trying to cross safely to and from school.

Potholes, 6th June

Wed, 06 Jun 2012 10:53:26 +0100
54.033745331683 -1.2111782344219

My car wheel is now bent due to having to drive through the potholes. Especially if another vehicle is on the other side of the road, there is no room to drive safely whilst avoiding the potholes that line the run up to Newton on Ouse. Some of these potholes have been badly patched up and line the road on both sides. Please resurface the entire patch of road, the first impressions visitors must have coming to Benningborough must be awful.
