Urgent Appeal to Preserve the Beloved Willow Tree by the Public Path on Howey Rise Frodsham, 13th August

Sun, 13 Aug 2023 10:13:26 +0100
53.288785 -2.729253

I hope this message finds you well as the work has already started and they have been working through the weekend and right up until sun down and they are working fast. I am writing to you with a deep sense of urgency and concern regarding the imminent removal of a cherished landmark in our community - the magnificent weeping willow tree that graces the edge of the public path on the corner of Howey Rise Frodsham. This tree, which has stood proudly for at least 60-70 years, holds immense sentimental value for many of us who pass by it daily. As a resident of the area, I have had the privilege of witnessing the beauty of this willow tree for years. Its sweeping branches and graceful presence have come to be a symbolic characteristic of the start of Frodsham hill and the deep connection to nature in which the neighbourhood exists. This tree is not just a part of the landscape; it is woven into the fabric of the hill, and to us, it represents a shared memory that ties the community together. The loss of this iconic willow tree would be a devastating blow to the aesthetic and cultural essence of Howey Rise and the walk. Its removal would rob us of an invaluable piece of our heritage and disrupt the harmony between nature and urban life that we hold dear. I implore you to help prevent taking it down, I am asking urgently because they have already began and have worked right up to the evening to do so. They’ve already torn down the beautiful blossom tree nearby. The position of the Willow, is quite far from the house and marks the very edge of their land where it joins to a public footpath. I believe we must explore alternative solutions that would allow it to remain standing. Preserving the willow tree would not only maintain the visual splendor of our surroundings but also honor the historical significance it holds for us all. I understand that decisions must be made with careful consideration of various factors, and I am more than willing to collaborate with relevant authorities to find a solution that benefits both the community and the property owners. Together, we can explore options such as tree preservation orders, relocation, or any other measures that may allow this magnificent willow tree to continue gracing our landscape. Please, come together to safeguard the natural beauty and character of our neighborhood for present and future generations. I kindly request your immediate attention to this matter and an opportunity to discuss potential avenues for preserving the willow tree. Thank you for your time and understanding. I eagerly await your response and the possibility of working together to protect this treasured emblem of our community.

Drainage from M56 onto Marshlands, 20th July

Thu, 20 Jul 2023 12:17:01 +0100
53.298242 -2.72867

The land drains which take the water from the M56 and flow through the marshes towards Geenfield Lane in Frodsham would appear to be blocked. This is in a popular walking area and the manhole covers have been forced off with heavy rainfall. One of them has ended up in the drain and there is a 6ft large drop which someone could fall in. There is another one further down which is in the same condition. I have photos. Very dangerous and the area is unlit and used by dog walkers on a regular basis.
