53.729748 -1.51011

Travelling on the M1 North to go on to the M62 East has horrendous traffic build up due to sequencing and timing of the temporary lights. This is extremely dangerous due to the amount of standing traffic. Can you please resolve this asap and feedback before there is a bad incident or accident. This needs urgent review to avoid the above. Many thanks Look forward to your feedback to resolve Regards Sean

Drainage blocked / standing water southbound, 12th September

Tue, 12 Sep 2023 08:28:36 +0100
53.723609 -1.519757

During/after rainfall - a large stretch of pooling in the right hand/outside lane due to blocked drainage, all traffic travelling south in this lane are causing waves of water which goes over the central reservation barrier hitting the cars heading north in the right hand / outside lane in their windscreens, causing temporary washout blindness. This is very dangerous and lead to a very serious accident! This lane of motorway has been closed for months to allow for upgrading, yet they didn't clean out the Beanyblock / Aco drain - its full of vegetation!

New barriers being installed on M1/M621, 8th August

While this is present along the M1 up and down the country, I wonder if NH has considered the impact of installing the concrete barriers along their motorways upon wildlife? To be clear, I am writing from primarily a human safety point of view, in addition to the animal safety issues. Driving up and down the M1 over the last week, I have noticed two instances of large animals dead next to the central reservation - one badger and one deer. Additionally there was the reported incident with a sheep on the M1 near Leeds a few weeks ago. Previously with the tension crash barriers, should an animal get onto the carriageway, it could get through. Acknowledging that there is a least-worst option choice to make here, is it better to allow the animal to cross, potentially causing issues with both carriageways, or better to block the animal from crossing (keeping one carriageway clear) and potentially alarming the animal and pretty much guaranteeing a collision in the outside lane as it runs along the barrier trying to find a way through? I appreciate there are no good options here, but what does NH use to judge whether this is a safe option or not? Thanks
