Dangerous obstruction caused by barriers, 29th October

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 17:03:59 +0000

There have been barriers associated with the gas company digging holes on the corner of Horbury Road and Cumbrian Way for a number of weeks. They obstruct vision for traffic turning in and out of Cumbrian Way, and take up some of the road width on the corner of Cumbrian Way so that left turning traffic cannot adequately turn if another vehicle is at the jnction. The barriers have now blown over. Very dangerous.

The road surface on the roundabout to the approach to ASDA supermarket is best described as 'lumpy' and uneven and is in need of repair on such a main and popular road. Maybe this work/repair could have been carried out when the very recent resurfacing approach to ASDA supermarket was undertaken ?

Virgin media, 1st September

Fri, 01 Sep 2017 11:26:58 +0100

Having received no prior notice, Virgin media are in the process of installing under ground cables in the area. They are currently causing chaos with pavements being dug up to bury the cable. The pavements are being damaged by the use of their heavy machinery and any clean up afterwards is non existant! Surely the house owners are entitled to receive prior notification of major works and disruption by utility companies, and should be able to expect the areas affected to be made good and safe, and thought cleaned afterwards.

The sign is pointing to Agbrigg, towards Doncaster Road. It should be pointing the other way. I'm assuming who ever placed it there, that they were ment to place it on the other side of the road. Either way, it should be changed, as it's directing people in the wrong direction.

Abandoned, untaxed car, 22nd September

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 11:47:09 +0100

This vehicle has been parked half on the road and half on the pavement and I am guessing abandoned for well over a month. An 'untaxed vehicle' notice was on the windscreen however this was removed the next day. The car, however still remains. Since being 'abandoned' both wing mirrors have been damaged and are now hanging off. I reported the vehicle as abandoned to Wakefield Council several weeks ago and nothing has been done. My husband spoke to a police constable that same week who said she would radio it in... nothing has come of that either! It is only a matter of time before some of the lovely Thornes Park louts come along and set fire to this car.
