Mud on Road from Farm Traffic, 13th January
Sirs, I wish to complain about the level of mud, when I say mud, it looks and smelled more like farm slurry being left on the road by the farmer between Strichies Mains farm, Hawick and their farm sheds some 50 or so yards towards the site of the old dump. As a regular walking route for myself and dog, as well as being part of the Abby Way, today I found myself having to wade through around two inches of mud across the full width of the road. The farmer had made no attempt to clean this up and it is obviously not the result of a single day. As mentioned this is part of the Abby Way, all be it a short distance, and is a tourist attraction for walkers to the area, it must be very off putting as well as dangerous to both walkers and drives alike. Surly there must be some obligation on the farmer to clean up this mess.

Damaged Parapet, 22nd December
The parapet is damaged and is about to fall into the Cala Burn. This parapet is supported by about 5m/m at the edge which is just holding it up. Should the snow plough come along and push snow against it then there is the likely hood that the parapet will collapse into the Burn thereby making this a major problem when the roads dept get around to rebuilding it. Collapsing into the water will also cause a build up of debris and cause serious flooding in neighbouring farm land. "Motto":- _A stitch in time saves nine. In this case the saving will be taxpayers cash
