Bottles and cans left in walking area, 28th July
While walking my dog with my grandsons we noticed about 50 blue cans of larger and many glass bottles which had been thrown down into the woods. They spent an hour collecting them from the trees and brambles to the pathway. We could only carry two bags and had to leave the rest but at least they are accessible now. At the beginning of the walk there is a discarded open top freezer which also needs to be removed. We therefore left our bags beside it.

Pavement parking, 10th December
Vehicles regularly park on the pavemented section of Steps Lane, above the higher entrance to Mayfield School. The council undertook to monitor activities in this area with particular reference to ongoing building work at the school. Some sympathy for staff who have limited local parking but consideration for residents is also necessary and for the disabled moving around.

Roadside Grass has not been cut since 2020, 4th September
The grass that runs alongside Teignmouth Road (heading to Shaldon from Torquay) is heavily overgrown and presents a serious danger to those using this section of road because of severely impaired visibility. A motorcyclist died at this very place only 15 months ago and a contributory factor was overgrown grass/weeds. I did call Torbay Council to report this about 2 months ago and I was informed someone would take care of the roadside maintenance, but nothing has changed. I would also like to bring to your attention that when the contractors do make an attempt to cut the grass, they seem to believe that a couple of feet is all they need to take care of, and they leave the other 20 feet untouched. I have cut the grass at least 5 times per year myself and this would have continued but for the fact that I'm now incapable of walking due to an injury. Can Torbay Council please take responsibility for cutting your grass/weeds and thereby reduce the risks of another serious or fatal accident? The road safety is also not helped by the fact that our bins can stay on the roadside for up to 11 days beyond the normal collection day. (At the moment we have no idea when our collection day is meant to be). This needs urgent attention.

Rendering on retaining wall falling down, 6th August
The pebble-dash rendering along the whole street is crumbling and falling onto the pavement. This is worsened during heavy rain as the water tends to build up behind a crack and push it away from the brickwork. The danger being that some of the large chunks that have fallen are approx 2 ft long and heavy, which is alarming due to young kids playing in the street. I would estimate that the whole wall is the length of the street, approximately 200 metres long. At its lowest point it is approximately 5 ft tall, and at its highest approximately 10 ft tall. This also increases the danger slightly, as those larges pieces discussed above sometimes fall from the tallest aspect.

Danger to children playing due to illegal parking, 15th July
People parking illegally on grass verge. Please see attached photos. Not only is this damaging the grass, pavement, blocking access, especially for disabled people who require access it is a significant danger for the local children playing. I have witnesses 2 children who have nearly been hit by a vichele due to them parking on the grass. This is even at times when road parking is available.
Signs should be put up or fines issued before a child or pedestrian comes to harm.
