Slippery road surface, 19th February
The A38 slip road road surface was recently relaid. Since then there has already been one accident where a vehicle has left the road as the road surface is slippery. This isn’t helped as it is on a corner and vehicles routinely now lose traction as they follow the slip road on to the A38, even if they are driving well under the posted speed limit and driving to the expected road conditions. Can a rougher/grippy road surface be laid?

Wooden telephone pole leaning into road, 2nd March
The pole is leaning into the road, as the road is narrow tall vehicles have been hitting it trying to avoid my stone wall. However my wall has been hit on numerous occasions knocking stones and debris onto the highway. Western Power who owned the pole have replaced it with a new one in a wider section of the road and asked Openreach on the 28/11/19 to move their wires to the new pole therefore enabling the old poles removal. Now that over 6 months have elapsed the pole is the sole property of Openreach. I have emailed Simon Cullen simon.cullen@openreach.co.uk Infrastructure solutions customer service over the past 9 months since it became their property. But the work has not yet been carried out. We have many walkers, runners, cyclists and horse riders using this road and Open reach have still not acted which I feel is negligent. Today I have had my wall repaired once again acting in good faith for the publics well being. But I shall not do it again. I hope you can make Open reach for fill their responsibilities. Yours faithfully Robert Millington

Unsafe footpath, 26th November
My father in law lives in one of the last houses along Exeter Road and he suffered a stroke in the summer. We now have a career visit him in the morning and evening. She lives in Chudleigh and walks up to see him. With the evening visit being in the dark now she is refusing to visit him. She said with the hedges being not trimmed back plus street lighting not working along this stretch of Exeter Road, she would not longer come for her evening visit. Can you please sort out the broken street light and also do some thing about the over grown hedges and the clearance of the footpath. This is from the allotment area upwards. Kind regards. Barbara

One major and a dozen minor potholes on Milestone Lane, 18th August
The section of road from Crammers Cross up the hill and across the crossroad to the fork for Trusham has about a dozen potholes and areas of cracking up tarmac. The worst pothole is actually on Crammer Cross and is about 3m long. Many of the others are about a foot across and a couple of inches deep. Near the Trusham fork there is a section about 15m long which is cracking up and will probably disintegrate next winter if not attended to.

Overgrown vegetation and weeds growing through paving causing path to become dangerously narrow and unusable., 16th October
Although the hedges have been cut back, the vegetation encroaching into the pavement has not been cut. It is taking at least a foot of the path, also vegetation is growing through the pavement between the kerbstone and the tarmac path reducing the width to less than a foot of clear space. This is all the way from the A38 overbridge by the northbound onslip to within half a mile of the town itself. It is the only paving and regularly sees invalid carriages and pedestrians walking into a 60mph road.
