Foot path needed, 11th February

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 14:36:08 +0000
50.431079 -3.770098

We thinking of buying a property along this stretch of road but we are worried about that there is no footpath or wide enough verge to walk safely along to neighbours houses or to the next lane which takes us in to the country side for walks. Is there any plan to install a small footpath along this stretch of build up area along this busy road? Thank you Barbara Whalley

A series of potholes between the road bridge and Dartington which have been worsening over the past few months. They are dangerous, causing road users to veer towards the opposite lane to avoid damaging suspension. The most dangerous are a series of THREE potholes in close proximity to one another not far after the railway road bridge on the A385 eastbound towards Dartington.

Potholes plus other damage on A385, 10th May

Wed, 10 May 2017 09:58:11 +0100
50.429995 -3.774579

Potholes on crest of rail bridge eastbound as it bends sharply, has been there since the beginning of 2017. The whole length of the A385 between this rail bridge & the 30mph speed limit in Darlington is deteriorating. Many of the drain covers are sinking, creating multiple hazards, and the surface on many bends is moving because of the forces created by the numerous heavy & large trucks and coaches (from Torbay hotels? on day trips). Because of the twisty and sometimes narrow nature of this busy A road it is difficult to miss many of these potholes by keeping out from the hedge banks as one risks being hit by an HGV etc that is over the whiteline because it is too long for the sharpness of the bend or is going so fast that the driver can only cut the corner to get round the bend! The potholes & drain collapses need fixing URGENTLY, the discomfort felt if you have back problems is large & other drivers do not like being held up if you proceed at a painless speed! The traffic issues, probably needs a review with a comprehensive traffic management plan but like so many rural A & B roads in Devon it would be expensive to do.
