Single yellow line contravention, 25th May

Thu, 25 May 2023 09:27:10 +0100
51.175051 0.7541

Regular single yellow parking contraventions, particularly during school drop-off and collection. Made even more dangerous that the only pavement is constantly blocked by residential wheelie bins so families and school children have to pass by the bins and cars using the middle of the road, close to the junction with the main road which is busy during school drop-off and collection times.

Serious edge of road repairs needed, 30th January

Sat, 30 Jan 2021 16:55:54 +0000
51.16204 0.777056

The constant heavy flow of rain water off the fields has seriously eroded the edges of the road and the verges have dropped making it really scary driving as when the water is really bad you can no longer see where the edge of the road is. Although there are ditches the are small and the water overflows fast. The issue is on the entire road. It is terrifying when faced with oncoming traffic. I have seen several vehicles get into trouble and one got caught in the furrowed out edge of the road and ended up in the ditch. The roads luke a river during rain so it's not surprising the edges have fallen away. Last time they resurfaced all they did was add to the top of what's left of the road and actually that made it worse and more dangerous. The road edges need supporting and propper drainage sorted out. This roads used a huge amount by all vehicles as well as being a popular cycle route. It looks rural but it's a main route for local villages to the south side of Ashford and a regular rat run of vehicles. At some point the river of water is going to win and the road will end up half the size. It's already a foot or more narrower than it was 10 years ago.

Half road covered in hedging and branches along most of road, 11th February

Tue, 11 Feb 2020 18:19:54 +0000
51.171753 0.769562

Half the road is covered in fallen branches twigs and a huge volume of debris. Driving walking and cycling along the road is very dangerous and damages vehicles. It's the length of the road from the junction at swan lane down to the end of the fruit farm fields. I hope someone can clear it soon. Drivers are forced into the wrong side of the road and you can only go 5 to 10mph or stuff flicks up. It's really bad.

Surface cracking and pot holes opening up a year after resurfaced, 4th February

Tue, 04 Feb 2020 09:49:46 +0000
51.156011 0.769425

The section from the rail bridge to the Dowel street Farm appeared to be resurfaced last year. Certainly a thin layer of liquid tar and a huge volume or road grit was applied. This has entirely worn away now leaving the original surface below. The grit seems to have damaged the road surface further and cracks are forming. I know at least one pot hole has been filled but feel the road needs a full inspection. This is the second road in the area that's had damage caused by this method of surfacing - applying liquid tar and a lot of grit is not working very well and appears to be causing more harm. This road was safer and smoother to drive on without it!

Really rough finish and overly gritted, 29th November

Fri, 29 Nov 2019 19:56:02 +0000
51.157439 0.770114

Please can you inspect this road with care. It has supposedly been properly resurfaced. However it's been budged badly just like when they did surrender road. Theres odd ridges all over it and the grit is too loose and thick. Cycling is lethal and it's like driving on a pea beach drive. I dont know what they did but it feels like the scraped off the damaged layer then drizzled tar over it and gritted. It is really bad.

Branches across road and hanging broken over, 12th June

Wed, 12 Jun 2019 17:11:39 +0100
51.161856 0.778923

All through the wooded area the road has branches hanging snapped at car height. It looks like an iver sized lorry has been down the road again. The braches and debris need clearing and a sign needs to go up restricting access through the woods. Or the woodland owners need to cut the overhanging trees back before someone is seriously hurt. Lorries don't know the roads unsuitable as no signage is there to tell them.

Nasty pothole right on road by the public footpath, 29th April

Mon, 29 Apr 2019 09:35:55 +0100
51.172447 0.769267

The pothole is located on the road next to the public footpath. It is very deep and hard to see on approaching it. If traffic is coming the other way its very hard to stop to drive around. I know its there so I go slower and drive around it but other traffic unaware of it being there could damage suspension or tyres.

Trees, 29th April

Mon, 29 Apr 2019 09:32:57 +0100
51.161239 0.784566

There is a damaged tree overhanging the road on the right side as you travel from Ashford towards Pluckley. Its almost snapped now after being hit by multiple vehicles (its notable larger vehicles now use this road and certainly the bin truck clips trees on this road regularly due to its height). The tree is a moderately sized one and leans over the road. If it breaks off it could be a risk to life as this is a very popular road for cyclists and runners. It may be worth encouraging the land owner to look at the over hanging trees on this road through Benacre Wood in general as several look damaged for the same reason. I have met a full size articulated lorry on this road twice now, Perhaps highways should also consider a height and weight warning sign?

Branches broken and dangling over the road, 23rd September

Sun, 23 Sep 2018 10:04:39 +0100
51.161785 0.780154

Recently this road despite its size has seen an increase in large vehicles. I think this has cause the trees overhanging the road to get damaged. There are currently 3 branches dangling over the road in various place through the wooded area. Transit vans struggle to get past them. I have witnessed the refuse collection truck hitting the branches and snapping them many times and it is dangerous as other traffic gets scratched. Also this is a seriously popular cycle route! Please can someone investigate and clear the lower branches. Also can highways look at a sign stating the max height and weight for the road. And install an additional road closed sign detailing for when hothfield flood plane is flooded. At the moment lirries get into a real pickle. The roads available to detor along have restrictions and lorries should not be using the road.

Pot holes and cracks and dips all over the length of this road, 1st November

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 12:29:07 +0000
51.161686 0.782841

On 18th this road was scheduled to be closed for 3 days to make repairs. The lines are all over the road. We can only see 2 or 3 as being done and as there is no notice and all the complaints have dissapeared I guess the council has been invoiced for repairs that were never done. Please can someone inspect this road from Rippers cross to the junction after Sacacens. Its a hell of a state and lethal. theres a nasty camber into the ditch in several places and the road condition means cars often end up in the ditches even when not going fast. I feel sorry for the business and home owners on this lane as people are forced into drive way entrances to make way for vehicles. The trucks often catch over hanging trees bringing branches down making it even worse! The road is very busy with regular traffic. This have been an issue for about 10 years. I reported problems several times and its getting worse not better.
