Lots of very big, very deep potholes hidden by standing water!, 28th March
These pot holes have been here for an extremely long time, we have been driving down this road 5 days a week for a good year and I would say they have been there and just getting worse over that time. Most of them are hidden underneath the standing water that never really seems to go. Unfortunately yesterday morning our car tyre got damaged by one.

Obscured road by slight mud slip., 8th March
Due to recent wet weather the high Bank on the road has slid out. The road is passable but any more rain is liable to bring down more mud . Traffic in single lane road is varied and includes tractors and trailers. The road is on the outskirts of Stoke St mary taunton . Near Ta3 5df.

Very uneven road surface, 30th January
Travelling South Bound in Lane 1. You hit a very uneven bit of road, it is on the raised bit of M5 at junction 25 as you go over the roundabout at Ruishton. I have hit it on two separate journeys and it has been enough to hurt my back both times and I am in a large SUV. So whatever it is, it is significant.

Confusing road markings j25 north exit slip, 7th January
Coming off at j25 north exit slip the markings are left lane: a358 west, right lane: a358 east. That right lane then turns into a358 west with the east lane merging off to the right. Many many drivers do not notice the change to the lanes and then believe the center lane can turn right (towards Ilminster, a303 etc). I've had a number of near misses, almost being hit in the side a few times as I pick up the left turn right lane on the roundabout. The markings have been like that a long time but it seems recently people are not as observant. I would suggest that the second a358 west lane (the middle lane) merges from the other a358 west lane and sign posts be put up to alert drivers.

Materials falling off the back of a lorry on the road just off junction 25 heading into Taunton. As I approached the junction 25 roundabout a lorry had shed part of its load - building materials on to the road. The Police were in attendance moving the materials to the verge

Concern about potential for public to jump onto motorway, 1st December
The following was received by Somerset Council but it relates to a National Highways asset: "This is not bridge damage, but we live along this road and there seems to be an increase in persons wanting to jump off the bridge onto the motorway below. Please could the barrier be made higher to prevent this from happening as it is very distressing and costly to police and other services. There is a bridge near Wellington which has extra high sides so I know this is a possibility. Thank you for taking the time to get this sorted."

Missing fence onto M5 from playing fields, 4th November
There is a large section of fence that is missing/blown down and therefore the m5 is easily accessible from the blackbrook playing fields. The fence can’t be seen, probably under the vegetation that had grown up it. There is no barrier onto m5 now other than a few thorns.
