Flooding /Blocked Drains, 19th September
The newly surfaced A346 outside the entrance to Burbage Wharf floods in heavy rain because the drains there are completely blocked. Located on the inside of a sharp bend on this dangerous road the flooding is causing cars to make emergency stops or swerve into oncoming traffic and HGVs are forcing a tidal wave across the carriageway into both oncoming traffic and flooding the properties at Burbage Wharf each time they pass. Knock on effect is that on this newly resurfaced road with self draining tarmac the tarmac will very quickly become inundated and will both not drain but also become permanently impregnated with silt which will make it even more dangerous in times of rain followed by freezing temperatures leading to a significant reduction in skid resistance just at the point where vehicles frequently have to make sudden stops as they queue to cross the narrow bridges 200m awa Urgent action required.
