Road narrowed due debris from hedge trimming causing blocked gutters and excess water on road making road surface very slippery., 15th October

Thu, 15 Oct 2020 16:50:45 +0100
52.005294 -4.271906

An estate on the hill trim their hedgerow at least monthly but will then leave all the debris from the trimming on the road side. These trimmings have now blocked up the ditches and with the added Autumn leaves have narrowed the road width. As a result the drains that the council have recently cleaned are also becoming blocked again. This causing a high risk of vehicle accident as roads are now very slippery and will become worse over the winter months.

Overgrown hedge obstructing highway, 23rd June

The hedge on the left hand side of the lane, as you travel north, has not been cut for the last 12 years. It belongs to Pant Glas but I do not have a postal address of the owners who live elsewhere. Traffic is now being pushed over onto the verge on the other side of the road and larger vehicles frequently loose wing mirrors. The person renting the land has no interest in cutting the hedge.

Building rubble dumped in drainage ditch, 6th September

Thu, 06 Sep 2012 16:08:08 +0100
52.001225 -4.252854

A considerable quantity of building rubble has been dumped in the drainage ditch at the roadside here by the people who live in Sunny Hill. During recent heavy rain some of this material has been washed onto the road surface. This has been an ongoing problem for several years now in that the chap who lives there seems to think that the verge of the lane alongside his house is an appropriate place for disposing of rubble, garden waste etc. In fact at the top of this lane there is at least a foot or two of encroachment over the road surface due to the accumulation of this material. It's a narrow lane, I use it, I object to having to drive over stones and I object to the resulting damage to the road surface. I reported this by phone a month ago. I'd bet this lane is the worst maintained public road in the whole of Carmarthenshire. Send someone round to take a look, see if it measures up to your standards. My name is Idris, I live at the end of this lane, drop in and let me know what you think, I'm curious.

Blockage of drainage ditch by garden and building refuse, 8th April

This is concerning a narrow single track road that leads from the Pencader-Gyddgrug road down to Avondale. This road was last cleaned 3 years ago, at my request, after several barrow loads of mud had been deposited on the side of the road bordering the Sunny Hill property and blocking the flow of water down the roadside.Let me explain. The water runoff from the main road, which can be quite considerable at times, comes down this lane on the right in a small gutter/ditch and then into a soakaway in a field.Or at least it used to, or at least along side Sunny Hill it used to.For the rest of the way it more or less sticks to the ditch, but then there is still a ditch, just about, unlike alongside Sunny Hill, wherein lies the problem you see? You dont? Let me explain further.A good 2 foot of your road has gone missing and I know where it is.It's been buried under 3 years worth of slow but steady accumulation of garden waste, building rubble, litter, stones, cementwashings, creosote, tarmac chippings, cuddly toy - no not the cuddly toy but if an unwanted one was available I could hazard a guess as to where it would end up.Oh and did I mention the whole lot has been surmounted by a very pretty row of white quartz boulders.Christ I'd really hate to hit one of those if I fell off my bike.Which I suppose is not an unlikely possibility given the state of the road surface there. It's amazing how water streaming down the middle of a narrow lane like this can produce such a rapid deterioration in the road surface - there's a hell of a pot hole developed, must be 20 foot long.Considerably worse than last year when I brought the problem to your attention. You know it's funny, we've lived here 20 years,I mean the lane doesn't get a lot of traffic, it's never been a problem, quite a nice little lane in fact, good road surface too,the occaisional clean in the autumn to sweep up the leaves, usually do it myself, hope you dont mind, wouldn't want to put anyone out of a job or anything. But no it is strange that ever since the people who live in Sunny Hill sued you over some loose chippings on the main road and got you to re-tarmac the pavement outside their house 'cos they reckoned muddy rain water was going down their drive and demanded you put in an underground drain rather than let the nasty muddy rain water come down this lane, someone has definately and without a shadow of a doubt been using this lane as a midden. I suppose one could be forgiven for thinking it all got washed down here from the main road, but then as I say, we've lived here 20 years and we can't recall a tsunami ever coming down this way, which apart from a human agency is the only way I can think it all got there. Anyway,I digress, this lane needs cleaning and some potholes need fixing - cheers.
