FIXMYSTREET IN SA33 5LW
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of SA33 5LW:
Glan Tywi Uchaf - ice at the end of the close continues to prevent older people from leaving their houses, 12th December
Though some sand was put down in the first part of the close today, a number of houses right at the end of the cul-de-sac continue to be iced in! These are homes for the over 55s and council owned and residents are unable to leave their houses without fear of falling on the paths and their cars are iced in. Would it be possible to have a permanent salt/sand box installed on the close? Residents would then be able to clear the ice when it's causing a problem. Failing that - please can we have another salt/sand drop right at the end of the close/on the paths. Thank you

Barriers erected blocking Emergency Access, 17th August
A line of 4 metal barriers, set in concrete has been erected in front of a sign that clearly states 'No Parking - Emergency Access'. The barriers are on the boundary between Carms County Council land and that owned by River Towy Yacht Club. It would certainly prevent vehicles accessing the beach in an emergency. I do not know who authorised this work which was carried out yesterday, 16 Aug 2022. Perhaps CCC would check if the relevant permissions were granted, if not, take the barriers down. Athough a narrow vehicle could access the beach behind the barriers, it is plain that someone could simply park there.

Children projectile vomiting after swimming in river Tywi at low tide, 3rd August
This week there have been a number of reports of children being violently ill after swimming in river at low tide. Children who played on beach but who did not go into the water had no ill effects. Also whether this is co-incidence or not - the massive shoals of bass and mullet that were in the river 2 weeks ago have totally disappeared over the past 2/3 weeks. Where you would see an abudance of these fish at this time of the year they have gone from the river tywi and if reports are correct, also the river taf.

Shelter built to take in the view - Now no view, 1st June
Due to the lack of maintenance on the vegetation at this point on the Coastal Path over the last 7 years the vegetation has grown to such an extent that the viewing shelter does not serve its true purpose. I have spoken with the landowner and he says it is CCC responsibility. Who knows! It would just be great to have the view back for locals and visitors to the Coastal Path. I appreciate it is not a small job as the vegetation is at the cliff edge. Thank you

A tree has fallen across the Coastal Path between Llansteffan and Scott's Bay. I have contacted the landowner and he confirms it is not his responsibility as it is on the cliff side of the fence.

Broken fence in 3 places, 26th February
There are 3 big holes in the fence on the footpath over to first steps. Incredibly dangerous should a child or animal go through. They would fall down the cliff which is a sheer drop and onto the rocks below and more than likely die. They have been there for a while and still nothing has been done about it.

Tree on CCC land fell in high winds and brought down the telephone lines and damaged the pole, 1st February
I don't think the pole is in use because no members of the community have lost their phone line because of the broken line. That said the whole thing is an eye saw now and should be removed. I realise this may be a BT issue but CCC have responsibility to a degree because a tree on their land brought the lines down. Thank you

Inadequate sign may cause health & safety issues, 16th January
The sign warning drivers not to go on the beach is almost unreadable and in a very poor state of repair. This has been the case for some years now. In addition to the health and safety problem it detracts from this well known beauty spot. Thank you

Place name removed from stone plinth, 6th July
Hi there, The mill stone (in the photo) used to carry an highway type name plate (Llansteffan). Apparently it has been missing for some time now. Not sure if replacing such name plates would be the responsibility of CCC but thought I would ask. If there is a possibility of getting this done that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Emmergency Phone out of order (most of the time), 5th July
Hi there, I have been told by a Community Councillor that the phone is the responsibility of CCC. I do not know this to be a fact but the Coast Guard have confirmed this. The phone has been out of order for the last 6 weeks. Looking at it I think it needs a whole new unit. I think it has been battered by the elements. The wiring is not looking too good either. Perhaps in this era of mobile phones it is not needed (there may be a regulation that dictates it has to be there, I don't know) but if it is there it should be in working order. Grateful for anything that can be done. Thank you.
