Large pot holes at bottom of John st., 23rd February

Fri, 23 Feb 2024 14:59:59 +0000
51.711273 -3.701126

It is more a case of where the end of the road tarmac meets the lane, the road has broken up a bit and left rather large pot holes and uneven surfaces. It is right at the start of an entrance to a pathway, so many dog walkers use it and could trip over. It is also the point where car users need to turn their cars as its a dead end street and these holes are quite deep. It has been present for over a year but just gets gradually worse the more cars drive over them. The location is right at the bottom end of John St, SA11 4LD.

Rusty railings, 21st March

Sun, 21 Mar 2021 13:37:10 +0000

Outside Bryn Terrace there are railings which are rusty and a hazard for children handling them. Over 10 years ago I reported this and it was dealt with by you painting the railings. Nothing has been done since and as a health hazard not sure if this should be an environmental health or highways problem but really needs adressing.

Large Potholes + Blocked Drainage, 17th May

Tue, 17 May 2016 15:57:55 +0100
51.711432 -3.686008

As you drive from the bottom of the road (Just past Maes-Y-Tyra) all the way to the top where the barrier is (SA11 4NW), there are a lot of large potholes that are quite severe. The potholes are spread out over the full road and are dangerous in wet weather conditions as they make you drive into the drainage if other cars pass you. There are also a few drains that are blocked up with mud and other debris.

Restriction of access to my own property by difficult neighbours, 7th November

Thu, 07 Nov 2013 19:43:31 +0000
51.702777 -3.710767

I am writing regarding the difficult situation my family and our neighbour John Cole has with Mr and Mrs Davies at Number 1 Woodbine Cottages. We moved into our home in May 1998. The access to the front of our property and that of Number 1 and Number 3 Woodbine is shared, given it is the only means by which we can get to our front door. We have used this access since moving in. The access as copies of letters we have shows that this has been the only access to all the properties for a considerable amount of time and all the current and previous occupants have used the steps. I again stress this is the only access we have to our own property. Unfortunately our solicitor at the time, Kevin Lane and Co. in Port Talbot failed to check whether we had a right of access when the property was purchased. This has left us with nothing on our deeds to say we have a right to use the front steps, but we believe common sense shows we have no other means of access. Around 2002, Mr and Mrs Davies informed us we were no longer able to use the access steps, the steps belonged to them and we had no legal right to use the steps. This seemed to arise from the fact that my wife was being picked up by a work colleague to share a lift into work. We were told Mr Watkins knocking on the door woke them up, and they would appear every so often to complain aggressively fully clothed. On one occasion we suggested they phone the police so that perhaps the matter could be resolved. Mr Davies went into his house to get a number and returned a few minutes later to say he couldn’t find a number. This complaining has continued on and off for the last 11 years. We have been verbally abused, had video camera’s placed in the Window of Number 1 to film us coming to our front door and leaving our property. Mrs Davies has photographed us coming to our front door with shopping. More concerning I believe my children [now aged 11 and 13] have been photographed and videoed coming to and from their own home, as they use the steps to go to the bus stop for school. Mr Davies has never used the photographs over the matter of us using the steps, so why does he continue to film us and our children?? Now the Davies’ have narrowed the gap in a wall between our property and theirs and raised the height of the gap we use to over a one foot and a ½ in height. This cause us and our children considerable inconvenience when we want to gain access to our home. Our son Isaac is autistic and has some difficulties with his coordination and obviously we are worried that he will have an accident having to climb a foot high wall twice a day. This is obviously the case for my daughter too and for any friends they and we might have visiting our home. Martha has already had one friend fall awkwardly when coming to see Martha. Isaac often struggles with stress and anxiety, due to his condition and when the neighbours have behaved aggressively, he has become distressed. Recently they approached him and told him not to keep slamming the front door, which is not something he does. I am concerned the bullying and aggressive stance the Davies’ once reserved towards us, has now started to be directed to our children. I am concerned this may escalate. We no longer feel able to deal with the Davies’ by ignoring them. They are causing us stress and we are constantly reminded of the difficulties by the wall and the continuing issues. This situation is causing us considerable amount of stress. We believe the Davies’ actions are purely vindictive and bullying and we are aware that they have made life difficult for our current neighbour at Number 3 John Cole and previous occupants of Number 2 and 3 Woodbine Cottages. If the Davies’ truly believed we have no legal right to use the steps, and have no right to gain access to our own home, we question why the wall is not 6 feet high. The Davies have previously built up an obstruction between our properties, but have been forced to remove this, due to health and safety issues. This time, they have built it to such a height that it creates maximum inconvenience, without coming a health and safety issues. For us due to the fact we have an Autistic son and there is a gentleman in his seventies in Number 3 Woodbine Cottages, there is already a health and safety issue.
