The whole road needs resurfacing, 30th January

Tue, 30 Jan 2024 19:55:01 +0000
53.402464 -2.045226

The whole of Hollins Lane except the very bottom needs resurfacing. Over the years there has been multiple holes dug and patched over to the point now where bits have sunk at different rates or potholes are now present. It’s a very uncomfortable journey up or down the road and at points some bits have sunk so much compared to others that cars bottom out and hit the surface.

Potholes on road, 25th October

Wed, 25 Oct 2023 10:46:45 +0100
53.406511 -2.027655

There are several potholes. These have been here for months but have worsened due to the recent weather. This is most of the way up gird lane but particularly bad after property The Oakes/cattery and before property Far Away. The tarmac has come away in multiple areas and there are now rocks/debris partially filling the holes in the road making it very uneven and difficult to drive on to reach our property.

Parking on Public Footpath, 16th April

Sun, 16 Apr 2023 06:45:10 +0100
53.3851 -2.051844

There are two vehicles being parked overnight on the pavement between numbers 69 & 71 Strines Road and occasionally during the day for several months now and this is preventing my wife and several of our neighbours from using the footpath with a push chair on this dangerous blind bend. In addition to this, the white Peugeot registration number HW65 HVM also has no MOT according to a search on DVLA and the blue ford focus, registration number HV10 OYC is in poor condition and does not appear to be road worthy. I have already reported this to 101 and to two local PCSO’s and I have been advised to make the local council aware of the issue.

Bridleway 148M severely eroded, 2nd August

Tue, 02 Aug 2022 11:17:00 +0100
53.380251 -2.02973

Bridleway 148M below/west of Capstone has been eroding massively with each recent rainstorm. Compared to just a year ago when it had a good, easily cycle-able surface, it has now eroded to bare slab in one place with ruts and large loose stone elsewhere. This is a very useful route which should be protected from further damage and repaired when possible. Drainage needs improving and replacement surfacing.

Public byway now inaccessible due to council inaction, 17th December

Fri, 17 Dec 2021 17:05:00 +0000
53.386227 -2.004801

PLEASE can you fill the impassable, dangerous deep lakes of water on this track? When dry it is a very well used walking and cycling route out of New Mills but it is currently impassable. It seems numerous people have reported this and DCC have done nothing!

Pole Lane Highway/byway impassable due to flooding, 13th December

Mon, 13 Dec 2021 12:31:46 +0000
53.383921 -2.005026

Despite numerous reports to DCC this important way (part of National Cycle Route 68, Pennine Cycleway) is now inaccessible without deep waders due to huge, deep full-width craters filled with water. Yet this would not take much to fix with basic stone resurfacing. Please could you action this ASAP, as the surface is now dangerous and has the potential to cause serious injury if people try to cross the puddles/lakes? Thank you!

Huge long-standing puddle almost completely impassable, 10th November

Wed, 10 Nov 2021 09:01:17 +0000
53.387225 -2.004876

This lake-sized flood has been here for years and reported numerous times. The surface around it has now degraded to the point that it is almost impassable. This is signposted as cycle route 68, Pennine Cycleway, and is well-used (or rather attempted) by pedestrians as an important safer link without traffic between New Mills and Mellor. Please could the hole be filled with suitable stone at long last?
