Complete the Peak Forest Tramway Trail!, 18th May

Mon, 18 May 2020 10:34:27 +0100
53.335063 -1.933152

It’s a crying shame the way the Peak Forest Tramway Trail peters out here. From being a wide and well-surfaced multi-user trail it descends into a rough, stoney, overgrown mess towards Charley Lane, and then a footpath only towards Hayfield Road. If the whole route of the old tramway were opened up with a suitable surface for cycling it’d provide an incredible asset as a route from the central High Peak out to Dove Holes, Peak Dale and Buxton, opening up new journeys by bike which are currently very challenging.

A6 Chapel Bypass consider shared use path for safe cycling, 18th May

Mon, 18 May 2020 10:30:24 +0100
53.335422 -1.959502

Every so often I see the terrifying sight of someone cycling down the Chapel Bypass. It is completely unsuitable and unsafe for this. There are probably thousands of others, though, who would find it useful to be able to use this very direct and level route. Please look at the excellent work done alongside the A555 Manchester Airport Relief Road where a shared path has been provided for the whole length of the road and links into local cycling routes, even on the older existing stretch of road. It would be perfectly possible to provide something similar along the Chapel bypass, the space is there already most of the way and this would provide a safe, direct cycle route. At Chapel Milton the path could avoid the viaduct by travelling down the embankment to cross Hayfield Road, where a link into Chapel itself could be provided. There is no reason this much space needs to be given over to motor traffic alone.

Blocked storm drain discharging water to field and down road, 10th October

Thu, 10 Oct 2019 20:06:21 +0100
53.336796 -1.922479

This storm drain grate (50m from the junction of Charley lane) has a blocked out flow so discharging the water collected from Buxton road out of it on to our field with lots running down the road and then onto our field. Lifting the inspection hatch down the road from it takes most of the water so it is not a pipe size issue but the blockage is too far up for the number of rods I have and dose not seem to shift from the grate end.

Dangerous driving, 1st October

53.3214 -1.950022

I would like to.report a man named Bernard who lives on Park Road, Chapel en le Frith in the High Peak because at first he was going to Knowle Avenue to see some friends then when he leaves instead of turning his camper van round at the top then driving down that estate properly he reverses down the estate then straight in to the middle of the road on Grange Park Road without slowing down or stopping to see what vehicles may be coming either up or down that road and goes far to fast and will one day kill either an animal or someone unless something is done about him and he deliberately parks on the pavement so close up to his friends neighbours garden that when he gets out of his vehicle he stands on the soil of that garden, their is a petition being organised to be sent straight to your office and the local Town Hall when 150 signatures has been reached, it has 80 on it now and at first he reversed fast down that estate twice a day and twice a week now its happening three times a day five days a week and is absolutely dangerous and he needs stopping, he is also a violent man

12" POTHOLE at END of BAGSHAWE AVENUE, 22nd February

Fri, 22 Feb 2019 13:50:33 +0000
53.322866 -1.926988

The pothole is getting bigger and bigger. The trouble is that there are rather big "pebbles" which can be caught by car tyres and can or will fly into some ones car or face. I seem to spend ages sweeping them up and then more appear the next day.

Huge pavement, with ramp, and large area thick with mud - no lighting in this area and llno warnings of new road layout. Turned into forge road (from chinley) and tried to tuck in for oncoming vehicle - moving very slowly and carefully. Mounted kerb to move out of the way - but no way to see huge kerb inside pavement and mud area, car got stuck in this mud and underside of vehicle damaged by huge kerb. No markings for this road, no lighting and huge potholes everywhere made it very difficult to avoid this unfortunate situation. This is at the scout hut where children are dropped off and are walking around. Essential some lighting and road markings are put in place ASAP., 13th February

Wed, 13 Feb 2019 19:38:03 +0000
53.336758 -1.940174

Info above - no lighting or road markings so turned slowly into forge road, tucked in for oncoming car - road has been narrowed on both sides. New ramped pavement in place with huge kerb inside - Leading to a hugely muddy area. Too dark to see this, and so I pulled right in, out of the way (as per original road layout) to find myself stuck on said huge kerb and in the mud (wheels only on passenger side). Car badly damaged by kerb. Photos available of road in daylight. This needs warning signs and much better lighting ASAP. Also the potholes should be fixed ASAP as the road is used regularly by the scout group and as it is very dark with huge potholes and ramps it is a danger to all Who use it. Kind regards, Julie
