The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of AL6 0DA:
Vegetation on central reservation, 13th May
The vegetation on the central reservation is preventing you from seeing across the roundabout junction when approaching the roundabout from the Old Welwyn direction and turning right onto Bessemer Road. You look to the right to give way at the roundabout but cannot see if any traffic is approaching.

Flooded Road/Path., 6th May
Reported many many times. PLEASE NOTE. This isn’t a drain cleaning issue. This issue is related to a more serious issue. Last year this was inspected and I was told by the guys the drain is damaged along route. It needs repairing. It floods every time. Please advise when this can be done? Car are having to drive on other side to avoid after heavy rainfall. When they do drive through this splashes onto path and coming cars.

Crumbling speed humps, 3rd May
The speed humps are crumbling away near on the left hand side in direction of travel approaching the roundabout with Station Road (1st exit). This is causing larger cars to move over when going over and get near and sometimes cross the white line causing on coming traffic to drive and hit the nearside kerb possibly damaging there vehicles or they is a chance that mirrors or there could be a more serious issue these humps need looking at as a matter of urgency I spoke to 101 who advised me to report it to you as such

Speed limit needs to be reduced along the A1000 outside Sherrardswood school, 28th March
Exiting the A1 and travelling down the A1000 past the entrance to the school cars are travelling too fast to allow cars to exit the school safely. If you travel past at the end of a school it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. There is a bus stop on the opposite carriageway but how are people expected to be able to cross 4 lanes of traffic? We have had a lane taken away on the way into town to make a safe cycle lane that I have never seen used, the money would have been better spent looking after the safety of pupils and families that attend Sherrardswood school.

Dangerous 70mph dual carriageway school road, 17th March
This road is extremely dangerous being a 70mph dual carriageway directly adjacent to the Sherrardswood School Drive. This should be a 30 or 40mph road not 70mph. School children and teachers are unable to cross safely to get to school. There should be a crossing so children and teachers can walk to school as currently they can only get here by car safely. Pedestrians do still cross it despite the danger and with the school doubling in size in the last 5 years there is an increased risk of a fatality on the road. Last year a 12 year old girl was was near-fatally injured after trying to cross the road on foot. Sixth form drivers exiting the blind school junction are also at risk of collision here. Pedestrians walking on the footpath on the other side of the road are at risk of being hit by cars coming off the road at speed especially around the bend. This road is an anomaly that needs to be addressed asap.

Hertford Road A1000 outside Sherrardswood School is dangerous and needs to be slowed, 17th March
- Road is dangerous, it’s derestricted so vehicles can legally travel up to 70mph past the school entrance. - turning off or onto this road from the school entrance is extremely hazardous as the view is restricted. Oncoming cars often appear out of nowhere due to their high speeds. - To utilise the bus stops you need to cross this dangerous road. - speed needs to be limited to 30mph and engineering measures put in place to facilitate this (new speed signs/painted road markings/countdown markers/rumble strips/part time flashing lights etc)

Not enough signage for 20mph zone, 17th March
Station Road from junction of Hertford Rd to Harmer Green is a 20mph zone. The signs are minute. Easily missed from Hertford Rd junction. The photographs represent the area of houses and cars in the village we need a big sign, Sid’s or speed camera. Drivers rat running exceed 30 mph. Putting all pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers in danger. Cars speeding up Station Rd from Hertford Rd are ignoring drivers exiting there drives. Cars speeding from the Harmer Green junction under the bridge meet a blind bend from the pub, they do not slow here and there have been multiple near misses. We have had 2 crashes in the last year. Again due to speeding. We have lots of elderly residents and families with young children. Station Rd speeding traffic includes vans and lorries, this is a lethal mix for our neighbours. We need bigger signage, Sids or speed camera. And speed cameras around the village.

Unsafe roundabout, 16th March
The combination of traffic lights and road markings lead to confusion. There have been multiple accidents here caused by cars pulling onto the roundabout thinking they have right of way because the light is green (they don't)

Unacceptably dangerous speed limit outside school, 16th March
Unacceptable that a road in-front of a school allows cars to drive at 70mph. Serious accident only last year involving a pedestrian and this road remains a major threat to life. Exiting the school or crossing the road is extremely dangerous

Hertford Road A1000 dangerous speed outside of a school., 16th March
The unrestricted speed limit on this road is extremely dangerous and unnecessary. There are two bus stops along this road, one of which has no lay-by for the bus to stop. Sherrardswood School is located on this route and having a 70 miles an hour speed limit outside of a school is hazardous, especially when pupils and parents need to cross this road to get to any form of pavement. This road needs to reduced in speed considerably as well as clearer signposts for hazards.

National speed limit needs to be revised, 16th March
The A1000 dual carriageway outside sherrardswood school is a national speed limit. Cars turning in and exiting is drought with potential danger every time. One end towards tewin goes into a 30mph, Bessemer road is a 40mph. So in the interest of road safety reduce the little stretch of dual carriageway to 40 mph outside the school as it can only reduce the future potential of a serious accident. And will also help pedestrians that have to cross the dual carriageway more visual time to cross!
