FIXMYSTREET IN SO50 4PZ
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of SO50 4PZ:
Cracks and drains causing severe noise and vibration due to heavy HGV traffic, 2nd May
There are cracks across the road from trees and the drain and manhole covers are slightly sunken. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't be as bad as it is however due to the motorway closures every night there is heavy HGV traffic speeding along this road which is causing huge crashes and bangs and shaking the houses. This is causing sleepless nights and causing a real problem for everyone along this road. There has been some white marks put down along this road in some places but due the the amount, speed and weight of this traffic the whole road now needs resurfacing with a smooth and quiet surface. Especially as the motorway closures works are due to last 2 years. Please assist with this problem or report it on to someone who can. Thank you.

Felled trees not removed, 2nd May
Received form member of the public I wanted to bring to your attention that on Monday afternoon a number of trees were felled, however, the branches of said trees have been placed in a pile next to where they’d been felled. The tree surgeons basically did there job and left? I refer to the group of trees at the top of Matthew’s Way directly opposite Boyatt Lane. Over the past twelve years I have personally reported three maybe four trees that had come down and needed to be cut away from across the footpaths they had been straddling at bottom of Woodside/Bosville. The trees get cut and basically just get left and placed back into wooded area. Why are they not removed? I know people talk about woodland creatures and the like and how it works with them however, if I was a visitor to Eastleigh and perhaps walking through there I’d think if this was managed better with new trees it would look lovely but actually it’s more a woodland dump. If We, the general public felled a tree say in or around our own garden we’d be paying for the removal of the tree it would not be piled up and left. Recently, notices have been placed in same area on lampposts which informs everyone about the introduction of a five/six battery operated bike and bench area going into grassed section at top of Matthew’s Way. Another reason I feel we really don’t need the council approved workmen carrying out work and leaving the area to look in a right unsightly mess. I would like someone to have a word about the removal of those cut branches and discuss any further tree work in our area to ensure said removal of cut trees and nothing gets left.

Crack in manhole cover, 1st May
Hello, I need to report a broken manhole cover which is just off of a footpath on Fryern Recreation Ground, just through the cut way from Highfield Road. The manhole cover is just off a main path used at school times and we are concerned if a child jumps on it they may fall in if it splits open. The manhole cover says Clark Drain. EN 124. Class A15. Thank you

The whole road surface is uneven and has big dips, 18th April
The whole road surface is bricked and has collapsed. If this was concrete or tarmac then the potholes would be huge but because it’s bricks it undulates vastly. I fear for my safety on my bike because I have to navigate slowly around these potholes and car drivers are impatient around me as they’re trying to reach the traffic lights as fast as possible. I can’t go any faster because this damaged road surface will damage my bike

Wet sludge Making an already narrow pavement, slippery and unsafe to walk on, 15th April
I am a severely sight impaired guide dog owner living off Bournmouth Road and I regularly need to access the footpath along Winchester Road, opposite Kings Road to access local shops and bus stops. I don’t have the option of crossing the road and using the pavement in the opposite side as there is no safe crossing Point, The pavement is already narrow with overhanging branches but now the wet leaves and sludge have left very little space and I slipped and almost fell over this week. The pavement needs clearing urgently to avoid an accident.
