FIXMYSTREET IN SO43 7NY
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of SO43 7NY:
Unsafe cattlegrid, 25th April
This cattle grid is relatively new. The upper surface of the bars are smooth and when wet are like ice. I have come off my road bike x2 out of 2 heading north over this cattle grid in the last 2 weeks. It is only a matter of time before someone comes off and does themselves a serious injury coming down the hill at speed. I’d have thought it either needs the bars scuffing up with an angle grinder or some type of road surface applied to the upper surface of the bars.

?brocken manhole cover, 9th April
The manhole cover has started to make a very loud noise/clatter when traffic passes over it. On inspection, it appears to bounce up a few centimetres when cars or lorries drive over it. I am concerned that this is unsafe and may result in a catastrophic issue if it becomes displaced. Furthermore the sound that results is very loud and is disturbing dozens of local families.

Edge of road broken and pothole formed. Near fence line of large house on right hand side, as you travel down Pemberton Road towards the custards., 29th March
This pothole is unavoidable if cars are parked along the fence line on the left hand side of Pemberton Road going down towards the custards.
This appears to be a broken previous pothole, side of road and has caused a deep hole.
With the Easter period and the rat run season about to start. Cars wizz up this road towards empress road and will hit this pot hole and make it worse. There are no pavements along this road. So , pedestrians use the road to walk along, especially our elderly residents of which we have a 95yr old, 98yr old and an 87 partially sighted resident, all of which use these roads to get their daily exercise. If they were to fall into this pothole… they will hurt themselves and worse end up in hospital.

Another deep pot hole, in middle of road near Baptist church just before the corner, 29th March
With cars parked either side of the road (normally) this pot hole has appeared and has loads of rubble being turfed up on to cars. It’s hard to avoid this pot hole if a car is parked either side and if hit at any speed will do damage to cars. With cars parked on pavements on either side of the pavement, pedestrians use the road to work, especially our elderly residents of which we have a 95yr old, 98yr old and an 87 partially sighted resident, all of which use these pavements and roads to get their daily exercise. If they were to fall into this pothole… they will hurt themselves and worse end up in hospital.

Deep pot hole caused two flat tyres to cars 28/3/24, 29th March
This is a deep pothole which caused flat tyres to two cars yesterday (that I know off) I am sure there will be plenty more over the Easter Period as this is a busy road.
There is a whole section of uneven, rough surface work which has caused this pothole to develop and surplus rubble is being turfed up to oncoming cars and pedestrians too.

Tis fairly deep and again when filled with water and not avoided will cause damage to cars etc.

Deep pot holes near entrance to the works at old Lyndhurst Park Hotel site development, 11th March
These have been filled before and are again deep potholes with rubble being thrown up on to potential pedestrians crossing and walking on pavements. There are about 3-4 potholes one on near side of the road and a couple or three (can’t actually stop to count) in the middle of the road, just after the pedestrian central island crossing.
These when full of water are dangerous and will cause damage to vehicles.
