Deep & sharp-edged pothole on Wield Road near Lower College Copse, 28th January
This deep pothole on the northbound side of the carriageway, right where cycle users are travelling, damaged both my wheels this beyond repair this morning. The whole area has very uneven and potholed roads, and we are used to watching out, but sometimes they are difficult to avoid if other road users are nearby. This one is definitely dangerous. It’s only by skill and experience that I managed to stay upright, as the carbon shreds stuck in my brake, jamming the wheel, and the tyre unseated, so I was skating along the wet asphalt on my carbon rims until I came to a halt. This meant I was stranded. On another occasion it could cause serious injury. Thank you for your attention to this important safety matter.
