FIXMYSTREET IN SL3 9AY
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of SL3 9AY:
Jagged broken edge of first speed bump on B376 going towards Datchet train station, 18th April
It has been months, possibly years, where the left hand side of the first speed bump after the mini roundabout on the B376 has been broken in. This speed bump is the first in the series going from the mini roundabout towards the train station. There is a jagged edge on that broken left hand side which can cut the inside of cars tyres. I am fairly certain it was this speed bump which was responsible for the cut on the inside of the tyre of my car which had to be replaced.

March 2024 update: potentially dangerous approach and entrance to TVAC, 4th March
APPROACH on Pococks Lane: Unlit highway / 40 mph limit often exceeded / known for RTCs and near misses / worn road markings-solid double white lines / double bends plus inclines and declines reducing visibility / lack of turning warning signs. ENTRANCE at TVAC: Unlit area / vehicles parking on entrance over pavements and obscuring general visibility / frequent pedestrian interactions with vehicles as the pavement crosses a narrow entrance / incline at main road causing headlight dazzling to incoming motorists from departing vehicles during darkness periods / large pothole at entrance, which often fills with water compelling vehicle and pedestrian interactions as both attempt to clear such / inadequate give way signage and road markings at entrance where several crossings converge.
TVAC is operated by Datchet and Eton Leisure (DEL). The Trustees of DEL are RBWM council, Slough council and Eton college. DEL has refused to communicate with me since late 2023. DEL stated that the Trust would contact me-they did not. DEL stated that the council had been informed of my concerns, but they refused to declare which official, department or council. No corrective actions have undertaken by RBWM or Slough council, despite the concerns having been raised to DEL over 10 months ago.
Recent Freedom of information act requests were therefore necessary to ascertain the reasoning behind inaction and a refusal to communicate. FOI 196501-434897 was received from RBWM and is now available to view on their website https://www.rbwm.gov.uk/ home/ council-and-democracy/ strategies-and-policies/ freedom-information
Issues frequently reported on FixMyStreet but have been incorrectly and misleadingly marked as ‘fixed’ several hundred times, which prompts the question of any nexus to the parties mentioned herein? The situation has been reported to FixMyStreet who have acknowledged that there is a ‘nuisance user’ in the Windsor and Maidenhead area undertaking this practice. So, unless the poster identifies themself as an actual official, within a relevant department and organisation and also lists any rectifications, then any historic or recent ‘fixed’ postings should be disregarded.
There are conflicting accounts from RBWM relating to mitigating (or not) the hazards identified, despite the following statement from a Traffic Safety Officer October 2023 : ‘…it was passed to the Traffic Manager and senior engineer who have passed their comments back to TVAC as it’s firmly alterations they are required to do, albeit the Council will assist via Highways with roadside recommendations’. RBWM council refused to disclose what the above ‘alterations’ entailed, but now maintains the statement was an ‘error’? RBWM claimed a lighting inspection was undertaken. It manifests that this was only a ‘desktop review’ rather than an on-site physical inspection in various natural light conditions. RBWM claim the road markings have been examined but at the time of writing have yet to confirm whether this was another ‘desktop review’ or a physical inspection. The images in this report demonstrate the poor condition of the road markings. RBWM are aware of a ‘presentation to the trust’ in an email dated 15 September 2023. They are refusing to furnish details of this. RBWM makes reference to ‘widening and lighting’ recommendations within an email dated 18 January 2024 but refuses to disclose the nature of such. RBWM disclosed a number of measures ‘done or planned to happen soon…’ within an email dated 18 January 2024, but refuse to comment on such. RBWM make reference to the provision of double yellow lines in an email dated 06 September 2023, but will not engage on whether these have been progressed.
DEL and RBWM have consistently acted in a dismissive and secret manner (refer to the FOI above). As a result of such, further FOI requests have been submitted.
