Potholes and mud on road, 5th April

Fri, 05 Apr 2024 19:14:21 +0100
52.606823 -2.848635

You kindly came to fix the potholes on this road (steep hill up to Sheppen Fields Farm) about a month ago, but unfortunately the guys who did the work didn't manage to finish in the time they had and left the worst ones - some pictures attached. The drainage issue still remains, which means the holes are likely to return quickly, and the recent rain has made the holes worse already. There have also been tractors with slurry trailors going up and down continuously for two days which has worn away the side of the roads and kicked lots of slippy mud onto the road. All in all it is in a bit of a sorry state, and anything you can do would be much appreciated.

From Pulverbatch down towards Sheppen Fields, 3rd April

Wed, 03 Apr 2024 12:09:54 +0100
52.605298 -2.848813

Caller reported very thick mud on the road from Pulverbatch down to Sheppen Fields. The mud is so thick it is covering the potholes so you can't see them and they damaged their car while driving slowly down the road recently. It also makes driving conditions difficult in terms of slowing down and stopping, as well as skidding.

Potholes and erosion to the side of the carriageway. Works not completed from last repair works, 20th March

Wed, 20 Mar 2024 11:49:04 +0000
52.607775 -2.849157

The last repair exercise had insufficient tarmac to complete the woks and did not address the more serious defects. On the central part of this lane where it becomes steeper there are 8" sharp edged pot holes on one side and a 2' wide strip of tarmac that has been washed away on the other side leaving a 10" deep ledge. The width of good tarmac in the centre is no longer wide enough to fit a vehicle. Extremely large agricultural vehicles use this lane everyday to serve the two farms plus 2 tenant farms creating an unprecedented amount of erosion to the sides of the lane and causing the bank sides to collapse. It is very difficult to get emergency and utility vehicles up to the 4 dwellings and farms that use this lane.

Several deep potholes combined with mounds of tarmac debris on section above the grit bin plus complete erosion of tarmac at the top of the lane where the turning head is for utility vehicles, 20th March

Wed, 20 Mar 2024 11:34:44 +0000
52.605705 -2.848712

The team carrying out the repairs last month to the whole Lane only had 5 tons of tarmac which addressed less than half of the pot holes and eroded sides to the lane. I spoke to the Highways team after the repair work was carried out and completion of the repairs was to be programmed in, but we have not heard anything yet. Photos of the central section of the road to follow in next report.

Continuous potholes and erosion of tarmac to base layer of stones along top 2/3s of the lane from junction to Sheppen Fields Farm, 8th January

Mon, 08 Jan 2024 10:35:27 +0000
52.609576 -2.849987

The road has washed away during the last two storms. The Debris from storm Babet blocked the drains on the main road causing flooding and blocked the road. The middle section of the road has a large amount of debris making it very unlevel. The potholes are around 8" deep with sharp sides and the lane is too narrow to avoid them. Incidences of two punctures have occurred over the last two days.

Deep sharp potholes along length of lane, 3rd January

Wed, 03 Jan 2024 20:10:18 +0000
52.60771 -2.849167

Since the recent heavy rain the potholes along the length of the lane up to Sheppen Fields Farm have got much worse. There are multiple deep, sharp edged holes that are impossible to avoid given the narrowness of the lane. The lane suffers from drainage issues, which is the route of the pothole issues and the general wearing away of the sides of the road creating hazardous conditions for vehicles given that the road is very narrow and the edges cannot be avoided.
Report on FixMyStreet

The mains drain on the road has caused a build up of stones and dirt which is acting as a blockage and not allowing th water from the residence to join the drainage system., 2nd January

Tue, 02 Jan 2024 19:06:39 +0000
52.616308 -2.85098

Due to the drain being blocked from outside of our property we are subject to a water blockage that is backing up into our property and flooding rooms within the property. We have emptied and cleaned up water from inside the house as well as water using buckets to remove water that has been backed up into the open drainage systems on the property. There is a manhole cover in the garden that was full and we have already drained of water. Our fears are that due to the current rainfall that the issue may reoccur.
