Once again, flooding has occured on this stretch of road near Morben, Derwenlas. This is a well known issue and the alternative route is about 40 miles to reach Aberystwyth. Please either clear the gutters/ditches or put a pump in. This is an important road connecting north and south Wales.

South side of Llyfnant Valley Derwenlas SY20 8PY, 25th January
As I can only add 4 photos it is very difficult to show the terrible and highly dangerous state of this road. The surface is crumbling badly in places particularly on the steep slopes, this is exacerbated by the lack of ditch and drain maintenance causing excessive amounts of water to run along its length and accelerating its deterioration. In places the road width is barely passable by a normal sized car due to the edges crumbling into the void. In several places the road is being undermined and is effectively ‘hollow’. The road is extremely precipitous with little room for error even when in good condition. In it’s current condition of disrepair it is highly hazardous with a very real risk of serious injury or worse for all users. Can I urge Ceridigion Council to carry out a full inspection of this highway and provide a detailed plan for its urgent repair before someone gets badly hurt or worse. NB the highway on the north side of the valley is maintained to a much higher and safer standard by Powys Council.

The footpath is blocked by a gate which is tied closed with barbed wire. There are no signposts showing that this is a footpath.
