Collision between cut-through traffic and parked car 24th April 2024, 29th April

Mon, 29 Apr 2024 14:17:28 +0100
51.234343 -0.330884

The driver of the blue golf, in a hurry, avoided the London Road traffic lights by using Rothes Road as a cut-though. However, the driver encountered a resident’s car coming in the other direction attempting to park. Rather than stopping and waiting, the driver of the blue golf, in her haste continued through the small gap between the parking car and the parked grey mini on the other side of the road and caught her nearside front wheel on the offside front wheel of the parked grey mini forcing it to turn and mount the pavement causing considerable damage to the blue golf and the steering of the parked grey mini. This is just one example of the unsafe driving by car owners who speed down Rothes Road in an attempt to shave seconds off their journey. This must be stopped immediately as Rothes Road is single-carriageway width (due to parked cars) and therefore totally unsuited as a High Street by-pass making the consequent risk to residents, their children, grandchildren and parked cars, very high. Please do something now before joint community action is considered.

Large pothole just after Traffic Lights, 7th March

Thu, 07 Mar 2024 19:36:24 +0000
51.235939 -0.321497

A rather large pothole has recently appeared on/just after the traffic lights in the lead up to the Deepdene roundabout. The pothole is larger than a car tyre and deep enough to cause damage to bikes and cars. The pothole is in the groove line of any vehicles tyre and so is inevitably going to worsen very quickly and has the potential to cause accidents given road users will be swerving under braking to avoid going into it.

Car parked across entrance to Deep Dene parking, 13th January

Sat, 13 Jan 2024 23:01:30 +0000
51.238212 -0.324438

This car was parked across the entrance. I could not easy enter without crossing into the side lane. It was safe as it was quiet. However, when I left the car park, the white car was then blocking my view of oncoming traffic, and it took me a while to ensure I could easily exit. This has happened a number of times with different cars, and some enforcement of this may dissuade others from parking like this.

School lane muddy and puddled, 1st November

Wed, 01 Nov 2023 14:32:05 +0000
51.227807 -0.328219

The school lane has been muddle and puddled for at least seven years. Pedestrians walking on the school lane have soiled wet feet, a large number of whom enter St Paul's School and make the floors dirty. Young children spend valuable learning time sitting on these floors wearing dirty shoes and often wet socks. This is uncomfortable, unpleasant and unhygienic.

The traffic signals are not affective on A25 / London Road crossings potential for car collision with crossing pedestrian, 27th October

Fri, 27 Oct 2023 12:55:54 +0100
51.234623 -0.325736

Three pedestrian crossings at / near junction on A25 with London Road. Two of which have traffic lights. If traffic is built up on the high street and traffic has passed the light signals but unable to proceed beyond the third crossing (the one without traffic lights and situated at a significant distance beyond the two traffic lights (one of which outside Dorking Halls and one on London Rd junction)) during the green signal, the traffic will naturally wait until the traffic moves up the high street before it can continue on but this is a dead spot in terms of traffic control and the traffic is unable to see that the green man is signally for "safe" pedestrian crossing. I have experienced the confusion as a driver and the fear as a pedestrian crossing and passer by.

Wed, 25 Oct 2023 20:00:06 +0100
51.227854 -0.328232

The footpath adjacent to St Pauls School Dorking is in a serious state of disrepair and has been for many years. During inclement weather, the area becomes a quagmire of mud and deep puddles which are impossible to navigate. The lane is used as an access route to the school and has hundreds of children and their parents using it each day. As you will see from the photos, it is impossible to navigate it without having to walk through mud and deep puddles. Children are regularly having to attend school with dirty and wet clothes/footwear. Young children at at serious risk of slipping and injuring themselves. The entire footpath needs to be properly resurfaced as a matter of urgency.

The potholes have been in the lane by the school for as long as anyone can remember. Ankles get twisted in the dry, and feet get soaked in the wet.
