Incident of Tin being thrown at schoolbus driver, 24th January

Wed, 24 Jan 2024 18:15:52 +0000
51.439596 -1.066578

One of our school teachers was involved in a traffic incident today when she was driving back today on the M4 from Reading - Netball matches with Crossfields with the U11 girls An approximately aged 20-late 30s white male with dark short hair and wearing a dark puffa' type jacket climbed the banister of an overhead bridge over the M4 Westbound carriageway ( estimated to be at a crossing approximately in line with Moore Copse Nature Reserve as they were driving Westbound on the M4 towards the A34 and Newbury exit) and he purposely threw a dark object ( she presumes a can or tin) towards the minibus she was driving in. It hit the roof of the CHK minibus ( Sean has checked for damages) sending a shock of noise through her and the children onboard. Helen is understandably upset, shocked and anxious and has given us a statement following the incident approximately at 17.10 We believe the incident happened roughly around at 16.10 as they had just left netball match in Reading

Lights Cycling through-no pedestrian crossing, 11th January

Thu, 11 Jan 2024 13:08:03 +0000
51.441939 -1.04621

All week the traffic lights are cycling through without giving pedestrians a turn to cross, even when the green man button is pressed. The pedestrian crossing lights up to say wait, but the lights only cycle through the cars and never show a green man. This is a large, main road with a high speed limit, used by many vehicles, including lorries and busses. It is also a major route for many school children going to and from school twice a day. Some of these children are unaccompanied. It is only a matter of time before an accident occurs with pedestrians trying to cross the busy Bath road. Please fix the light cycle to allow pedestrians to cross.

No 'Green man' for pedestrians., 9th January

Tue, 09 Jan 2024 08:44:50 +0000
51.44206 -1.046403

The lights are not displaying a green man, and not giving pedestrians any time to cross a very busy main road. the button is showing as pressed constantly to wait for a green man, but the traffic lights are continuously cycling through without allowing time for pedestrians. the waiting lights do not switch off. This is a very busy main road that is dangerous to cross and is used twice a day everyday by young school children (some of them unaccompanied). The road itself is very busy and is often used by large vehicles such as lorries. If this isn't fixed I suspect it wont be long before there is an accident.
