More off-street parking bays required, 3rd November

Fri, 03 Nov 2023 09:45:40 +0000
51.324565 -1.246945

There isn't enough quick-stay parking available in Kingsclere to access the businesses on Swan Street. The parking bays by the public bathrooms are currently 1 hour - this could be reduced to 15/30 mins to allow for a quicker turnaround of customers and cars needing to access the businesses like the Pharmacy and are only needing parking for 10 mins to collect prescriptions, grab a coffee, collect a parcel, pick up some milk. Better signage and local communication about where to park, where to turnaround (which roads to avoid because of aggressive locals) is needed. Non-locals, or those passing through are having to endure aggressive residents getting frustrated with customers trying to find parking/turning to park/unsure where they can turnaround as they don't know the road well. The whole area by the public bathrooms could be revitalised and designed to be a better use of space for parking - this needs looking into to accommodate the growing need in the village businesses. Kingsclere is getting a reputation of being very unfriendly and people will start to avoid using those local services and shops because of it - and because it isn't accessible,.

Drain cleaning on highway, 3rd November

Fri, 03 Nov 2023 09:37:04 +0000
51.330857 -1.252827

The highway water soakaways on the A339 at RG204SU are in need of clearing. I have now reported this twice and you have listed it on an email as 'fixed'. It is obviously not fixed unless you mean putting a temporary sign out to say flooding is an adequate response. We need a gully clearance truck to clear the soakaways of leaves and debris please. More heavy rain expected on Saturday and we will once again be unable to flush the toilet. Surely the deployment of a truck is not a major demand on your budget to resolve a traffic safety issue on a very busy A road.

More on-street parking required on Swan Street, 3rd November

Fri, 03 Nov 2023 09:30:55 +0000
51.32297 -1.249016

The parking area for Swan Street needs to be extended to allow for the increase in traffic requirement for the businesses - including a PHARMACY that exist on that road. Residents and Village locals are rude, impatient and aggressive with customers simply trying to find parking / turn to park. Kingsclere is getting a bad reputation for rude and intolerant residents - people are choosing to go elsewhere for services that those local shops and businesses offer, because of it. This could be combatted by additional on street parking bays - extend the area to allow for more cars to be parked to match the amount of customers the businesses on that road have in terms of footfall per day.

A339 Flooding, 2nd November

Thu, 02 Nov 2023 09:53:27 +0000
51.330808 -1.252749

The whole road is flooding due to poor drainage outside 69 Newbury road RG204SU. The water is not getting away quickly enough due to the road drains being partially blocked by debris and fallen leaves. The drains are backing up and we cannot flush toilets in the house. The drains need gulley cleaning urgently. I reported this days ago with no apparent action from anyone. Please help.

Flooding, 29th October

Sun, 29 Oct 2023 10:57:49 +0000
51.332212 -1.255548

Heavy rain on Saturday 28th October 2023 left both carriageways of the road flooded and a high risk of collision. Traffic very close to collision due to water impact. Flooded part of residents gardens and prevented the flushing of toilets due to drains full. There needs to be a gully and drain clearance of leaves etc urgently please.
