FIXMYSTREET IN PE29 2LJ
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of PE29 2LJ:
Signs incorrectly showing queue, 30th March
The signs have signalled traffic should slow down for a queue for at least the last 2 weeks at times when the traffic is light. The first one after the 1198 junction shows 60mph, the second 40mph then every sign after that is blank. There has been no sign of a queue any time that we’ve driven it (which is multiple times.)

You need investigating, 20th April
Just read this article. NATIONAL HIGHWAYS YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE, your environmental failings are beyond belief. I can see you'll be spending more of our money recifing your mistakes. The money should come out of those that were meant to be responsible for all the trees planted. You really need investigating, your incompetence is so concerning.
Cambridgeshire 'forest' dies after National Highways blunder At least 650,000 tree saplings planted adjacent to a Cambridgeshire highway in 2020 have died due to poor aftercare, it has been revealed.
The A14 between Cambridge and Huntingdon was the subject of a £1.5-billion upgrade, which opened in 2020.
In order for the works to be given the go-ahead, National Highways had to plan for a way in which to offset the loss of 400,000 trees and shrubs that were removed in the first place, as well as to mitigate against the carbon emissions from the road. This involved the planting of some 850,000 saplings alongside the carriageway.

Very dangerous pothole on new A14 southbound at beginning, 16th April
Approximately 1 mile south of beginning of new A14 southbound, just coming over the new flyover over the old A1. The joints in the road between the flyover and the main carriageway in the middle lane has developed a major pothole. Serious risk of major accident. in my opinion. Please call if you need more details [phone removed]

Litter/debris, 12th April
Before this new stretch of the A14 was completed, planning should have been put inplace to ensure it is kept as clear if litter as possible to reduce the environmental impact. Instead, this road has likely never been litter picked since it was completed. It loads of roadside litter as well as Highways debris. All the 'emergency' lay-bys are full of rubbish. I've also recently read an article stating that most of the thousands of trees that were planted have died, leaving tons of plastic tree guards blighting the landscape. What a total mess, absolutely embarrassing by National Highways and the council.

Appalling amount of shredded tyres on the grass verge, 9th April
Many lorry tyres and bits of roadwork orange barriers strewn across the grass verge. This is NOT a local council litter problem. Shredded tyres are not local litter they are specifically caused by the motorway. It's outrageous that highway maintenance have not cleared this.

Debris, 6th June
A14 both directions, debris everywhere, mostly old shredded tyres and other car parts, and your abandoned road traffic equipment. Distracting to road users, and debris risks entering live lanes.

Loads of debris, 21st May
Just driven on the A14, noticed loads of car parts left everywhere, particularly blown tyres etc. Why do you not collect this and feel it is acceptable to leave along the verges and central reservations. Really shocking you leave this highly flammable material strewn everywhere, this is surely a safety issue. Please inspect this route and collect all the tyre debris that is strewn everywhere.

A14, 2nd May
M11 Duxford to A14, A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, A1 and A1M Huntingdon to Peterborough. This route I drove today and couldn't help but notice all the left over road work equipment, loads of old sign frames, traffic cones etc left behind on the verges etc.
Also loads of roadside debris, particularly car debris such as blown tyres etc. Instead of throwing all this on the verges, increasing the amount of litter present, can you please collect this debris? Unfortunately as someone that travels throughout the country, I see this everywhere, and you appear to be contributing massively to the amount of litter everywhere.

Litter building up on A14, 1st April
New three lane stretch of A14 between Huntington and Cambridge, debris and litter beginning to gradually build up. Also litter building up in some of the emergency lay-bys, despite there being CCTV (please fine the culprits). Also litter from vehicle debris such as an old car engine, shredded tyres and load covers blown off unsecure load etc. This 10 mile stretch requires attention please. Once it was built, a litter strategy must have been put in place. Please don't allow it to get as bad as the old A14. Thank you.
