No work taken place for two and a half years, 14th November
A1307 between Huntingdon and Godmanchester - roadworks have been abandoned, but the 40mph limit has stayed in place on a dual-carriageway. I have not seen a single worker doing anything for two and a half years. Is the plan to conveniently forget about it until the road is handed over to the county council?

A1307 jct 24, 40mph signs and "speed limit in force for safety reasons" signs abandoned on this stretch to jct 25 Signs have been there 3 years and are clearly now abandoned and incorrect. The limit is actually in place because of the council. Either fix the problem, remove the signs, or this will be done by the public.

40mph?!, 4th July
Looks like your workers have left 40mph speed restrictions because I do not understand why it would be limited to this. It is a half empty dual carriageway, please can you tell me why the limit is 40mph and has been since the new A14 opened? I presume its because you couldn't be bothered to collect the signs?

40mph on A1307, 26th June
This complaint from 2021 was closed because the work would be completed in March 2022 and the temporary speed limit removed. Is that now not the case? Many thanks in advance:
. FixMyStreet ref: 2880947.
Dear Highways England - You kindly explained that the reason for the 40-mph limit on this section of the A1307 is that the central barrier needs upgrading for safety reasons, and that this is scheduled for March 2022. You also explained that your contractor will be amending the signage to explain that the 40-mph limit is 'for safety reasons'

Speed limit A1307, Huntingdon, 11th June
In previous years you have advised that the speed limit would be reduced to 40mph because of “Safety reasons” and the contractor would be charging the signage. This was done. You then went on to advise that the works would be completed within a year and the road would revert to 70mph. Here we are over a year later and NOTHING has been done and the relevant section still has a 40 mph speed limit. Please advise why nothing has been done ? Also precisely which part of the road is the problem? And, when the speed restriction will be lifted?

Inappropriate speed limit in place for about 2 years, 20th May
The A1307 between Godmanchester and Huntingdon is 40mph despite no roadworks for about 2 years. I saw other reports saying it was the responsibility of the county council (?) but you cannot report a trunk road issue on their site. I am therefore reporting here in the hope that you can put some pressure on to get this sorted.

Limit still 40 mph over 3 years later, 16th May
Over 3 years this road has been awaiting barrier repairs which is an incredible amount of time! So long that most people ignore the signs completely as they think it’s been abandoned! Keep getting told it’ll be done this date and then this date! When is it going to get sorted? Residents are very fed up with the lack of care or urgency…I seriously wonder what we pay road tax for! Last update said April 2023 and here we are mid May and still nothing! how you can think this is a good time frame is unbelievable and you wonder why people are frustrated, if I quoted I would have work done in 3-4 years it would be laughed at!

Dangerous 40mph speed limit - accident waiting to happen, 28th April
The 40mph speed limit that is going to be retained is extremely dangerous as 90% of the traffic does not adhere to it. Cars speed past police cars and nothing happens. Originally the excuse for the lower speed limit was the safety barrier but the safety barrier is the same along the whole stretch of the A1307 to where it meets the A14 and that’s 70mph. I urge you to seriously reconsider this ridiculous decision before fatal accidents happen.

Ridiculous 40mph, 15th April
This road was the A14 and a 70mph. Now it’s 40mph. This is both ludicrous and dangerous. Let me explain, the road is a dual carriageway with a metal central reservation. No work men, no cones. Clearly those who decided this ridiculous speed have never driven it and no doubt sit comfortably in their office miles away from Huntingdonshire. Or they are in Huntingdonshire and have some warped idea about road speeds. There is also no justification for it. Please stop the speed limit and revert to the national speed limit. People in general ignore it and no doubt this fills the coffers of the Police.

Inappropriate speeds limit, 11th April
Unenforced 40mph which is meant to be temporary due to barrier safety issues but has been in place for 2 years. Why is the barrier not being repaired? Why is the speed limit not enforced meaning there are significant safety issues with drivers coming past at 70mph if you slow to 40mph. This is currently very dangerous and if there is a fatal collision it will be purely the responsibility and fault of national highways. I hope you like blood on your hands. If someone I know is seriously injured on this stretch I will force a public enquiry into the incompetence of national highways.

Road remains at 40mph, 11th April
This is a dual carriageway that used to be a 70mph limit when incredibly busy with lorries. It is now 40 mph which is dangerously slow. I am incredulous that a genuinely dangerous road such as the B1043 can remain at 60mph whilst this stretch of the A1307 remains at 40mph. Why????? It will encourage traffic to go through Godmanchester if it remains at 40mph.

Road was 70 now signposted as 40 creating dangerous situation when many vehicles exceed this, 11th April
This road was a 70 dual carriageway. As roadworks were going to happen, it was marked as 40. These roadworks are no longer due to take place but 40 signage has been left, despite road still being set up as a dual carriageway. Many vehicles still travel along it at 70, making it dangerous for those at 40. It should be a 70mph road again.
