Blocked drainage and debris on road and footpath, 16th March
Due to mud and debris being taken onto the highway by trucks leaving from the adjacent landfill site the large build up is continuing to block the gully’s etc along this road. Surly due to the large number of vehicle movements that as per HSE Guidance the operators should be arranging so that roadgoing vehicles do not drive onto mud on the site. This is prevented by laying roads and using site base plant to move materials to holding areas at the edge of the site. If vehicles are likely to pick up mode which they do the site should anticipate this and install a wheel wash routine or as a back up. The site should have arrangements in place to call-in Road sweeping machine at short notice, but due to the amount of debris this is not effective site management should also be monitoring conditions outside their site regularly during periods of material movement. Due to the extensive rain that we’ve had over the last six months, the debris being brought onto the highway / foot paths is getting worse, causing the local authority more work and cost. Surely it is about time that the operator is made to provide this wash facility and no vehicles should leave until they have used it and are clean.

Dangerous Mud & Debris On The Road, 15th March
There has recently been a lot of mud deposited onto the roads from the constant stream of lorries coming out of the Sutton Courtenay Quarry. This has included some big chunks of mud that have been just dropping from the lorries onto the road which then gets compacted by vehicles and creates precarious debris all over the road surface. It is particularly dangerous when it gets wet thus creating a slippery mud slick for drivers to have to navigate, not to mention all this filth from the road that then gets sprayed up and deposited onto their own vehicles.
There is also an unacceptable abundance of dirt, mud and other debris along the kerbside and on the adjacent path.
This affects the anti-clockwise lane of the A4130 Northern Perimeter Road from the Hill Farm roundabout all the way past Trident Park and to the 5-exit roundabout by Manor bridge, however the worst of the muck is at the Hill Farm roundabout end.
This section of road and path needs some regular cleaning (washing / road sweeping) to keep it safe for motorists. The businesses who operate at the Sutton Courtenay quarry should be paying for any cleaning, not the taxpayers, because it is all of their lorries which are creating this unacceptable mess on the roads due to them not bothering to wash down the lorries before they leave the quarry area.

Blocked drainage gullies, 11th March
I reported on 10 January 2024 that nearly all the drainage gullies between Collett and Hawksworth roundabouts on the A4130 were blocked, ref 5425600. I did not get any further response but note that you were unblocking gullies between Hawksworth and Basil Hill Road roundabouts as part of works to resurface Hawksworth roundabout, even though this stretch of road did not flood like the area by Collett roundabout. Will this be carried out?
