Newly laid road surface disintegrating, 26th April
The newly resurfaced road covering is disintegrating within a week of being laid, with significant patches of the uncoated underlying substrate visible along the entire length, only to get worse as water penetrates. This partial coverage cannot form a water-resistance protective layer. Is this the quality of work expected? Should the contractor be called back to redo the job properly, or is the council responsible for this squandering of public funds?

Faulty Steetlight outside No.30 East Saint Helen Street, near the boundary with No.32 East Saint Helen St Abingdon., 25th April
The light comes on after dark Ok but only fires for 10's of seconds, flicks off for 10's of seconds and so on. It is irritating to guests of St Ethelwold's House trying to sleep in the room next to the lamp.

Hazards / Cycle path deteriorating rapidly, 25th April
More and more potholes formed on this busy cycle path over the rainy winter months, particularly dangerous for parents cycling with children, with the added worry of potentially getting impaled on the broken down metal fence along the path! Please support parents who don't want to/can't drive to school by improving cycling conditions. The condition of the path puts a lot of people off cycling!

View from Bench of Large Bits of Wall falling into the River, 21st April
View from the bench is of a large part of the river wall slowly crumbling into the stagnant rubbish filled river. mmm nice. Wonder how long it will be before half the walls in there? Followed by the car park making it undevelopable . This of course is one of the main impressions viistors on foot get as they cross the bridge. Absolute Desolation.

Abbey Tourist Sign is a disgrace to the Town., 21st April
The Historical Information sign opposite The Derelict Upper Reaches Hotel is blackened with filth from the overloaded daily traffic. It can hardly be read underneath the neglected black filth. Its an absolute disgrace to the Town It sends volumes about the couldnt care less either about the Hotel OR the riverbank here. If driving visitors away is the aim this is sure to do it.

The Embankment Wall of The Upper reaches Hotel Car Park is collapsing into The Canal., 18th April
Couldnt believe what I was seeing today by Abingdon Bridge,by The Mill Canal. A Large part of the stone Embankment which fronts the Derelict ex Car Park of The Derelict Upper Reaches Hotel is collapsing into the Abbey Mill Pond or Canal or whatever its called by The Broad Face. An area about 20'square is crumbling into the water with a cave like hole. The biggest pot hole in town! Its on the side wall facing the public seating.

Street light flashing, 15th April
This street light, which seems to stay on through the day as well, started last week to periodically enter a phase of flashing, switching off for ~1 second, then on for ~10 seconds and the repeating. At night this light shines in to my bedroom window so this is very disturbing. It would really be better if it turned off at 11:00pm.

Resident parking markings need repainting, 11th April
This week the markings at the Bridge St end of Thames Street have been repainted, but the workmen said the other end of the road, that also desperately needs repainting, wasn't on their worksheet. It seems such a waste of resources that they'll have to return to paint the other end of the same street! We pay for Residents parking & it is neglected & so infringed by non residents.

More Graffiti around Derelict Upper Reaches Hotel, 10th April
Triggered by todays' publicity about further graffiti being reported by residents at The Derelict Upper Reaches Hotel can this be raised at the upcoming Council meeting on the future of the ex hotel? Upper Reaches opened in the mid 1970s as a trendy Disco cum Scampi in the Basket venue a competitor to Berni Inns' Crown and Thistle.Sadly when The Disco Craze collapsed it did too. The 'demand'for 'something'to be done to it just to make riverside dog walkers feel better is naive and unrealistic.Thats not the way the Capitalist Property Owning System works.The costs of refurbishing this building would be astronomical!Demolition and replacement with a grassed garden might be one option but would not make any profit. Truth is no one wants it.Its a reminder of Abingdons 'Rust Belt'Status.(Shillingford Bridge Hotel was also dilapadated last time I checked with a filthy derelict pool .These folks that 'want something nice put in it place'are living in cuckoo land.We'd all like a mini Brugge,'River Quarter'or mini Amsterdam but its unlikely to happen.I doubt any French Chef worth their salt would even deign to visit for a day let alone work & live in Abingdon (What happened to the plans for a French restaurant?) You wanted a run down Centre full of cheap coffee shops,their lout offspring & scruffy blue jean ex beat/hippy wearing all day sitters around and 9-5 dog walkers and yappers and you got it!

30 cm pothole (5 cm deep) on Drayton Road, 5th April
The pothole is on a fast road (40 mph limit) - the B4016 - and poses a significant danger to vehicles. It's near the end of our drive so we can't avoid it. It has developed over the last few weeks (approx three weeks).
