Overgrown cherry tree outside our boundary, 11th May
This cherry tree is getting far too big for the small area it’s on, delivery vehicles and waste bin Lorry’s constantly break the branches as they reverse up the road. The roots have started lifting up the manhole cover outside my boundary wall. Please could someone come and investigate with cutting back some of the overhanging branches which are now almost touching my property The tree was put in by the council a number of years ago but has never been maintained by the council.

Vehicles travelling fast, 11th May
The speed limit along Dunmore Road was 40mph but vehicles were travelling much faster. A new pedestrian crossing has now been built between farm road and parsons mead and gets very busy with the new development. Due to no signage for the 30mph, vehicles are still seem to think the speed limit is 40mph and faster. I have seen a vehicles pass through a red light due to travelling too fast, so near misses. Who is responsible for no warning signage along this stretch of road please.

Persistent leak in Oxford Road A4183, Abingdon, 7th May
Persistent leak in Oxford Road A4183, Abingdon
Water has been leaking up through the road for the last six years and the cause has been identified but no effective action taken.
British Telecom were working on both sides of the road recently and had had to pump out the chamber by the South Avenue bus stop (northbound). I explained that in times of heavy rainfall the water comes up through the BT manhole covers and they said that the ducts that carry the cables also act as the drainage system for the service. They suggested that the BT ducts are blocked, as had happened below the chamber they had had to pump out. The duct need clearing of the blockage.
It is pointless patching the road, all this does is cause the water to come up through the next section of tarmac as can be seen in the accompanying photographs. Unless the problem is properly cured there is little point in tar and chipping the road service to waterproof it as the water will still come up under the surface coating.
This problem and its cause has been reported many times.

Illegal soakaway with 5m of bld & under tree, 7th May
Last summer one of the property owners installed a soakaway in the rear garden taking water from the gutters of the building to the left hand side block of flats opposite the Peachcroft Christian centre and to the rear of property to the left hand set of flats.
I witnessed some of the building works and have since been advised that the soakaway should be beyond 5m from the buildings in the area and not under tree canopies and feel that after learning that the person who is responsible for this building work should have followed drainage best practice and didn’t and should be reprimanded and make good the surface water drainage in the area as the drainage is not generally good and is quite waterlogged generally in wet weather.
I report this issue under the understanding of complete anonymity as matters proceed.
