Large Tyre Busting Pothole, 8th April
This pothole has got gradually worse over the last 4 weeks. Lots of water sits on the road here and accumulates - as none of the drainage gullys have been touched in years. The pothole is right in the track of the drivers side wheels, the only means of avoiding it is driving on the other side of the road around a blind bend. Whilst the road is down to be surface dressed - this is not going to fix the problem when water sits here every time it rains and hides the pothole

There are a number of potholesall down the lane now and the sides of the road are starting to collapse, 11th March
You every kindly fixed some of the road last year but one again more potholes have started to appear that are very deep. It's starting to make avoiding them harder as there are more appearing. Our house is for sale and we are getting feedback from potential purchasers about the start of repair of Westcot lane we would really appreciate some help here. There are potholes all the way down to Broadleaze farm and one area of road that has subsided so badly on both sides that the bottom of our car scrapes against it.

Drains backing up and creating floods, 12th January
We have a problem in Fawler with the road drains. And I’m not sure who the right people to contact are. This is not a new problem, but one that repeats every few years when we have freak storms and the drains back up which causes us enormous damage and stress.
When it rains heavily the road drains get overloaded and back up. Producing a projectile plume of water that comes out of the curb drain, across the road and goes straight down our drive; the volume of water completely overwhelms our small culvert and our new drainage system; causing a flood into the garages and living accommodation. Last Thursday during the very heavy rain between 6 & 9pm water flooded down the drive, rose to a level of 25cms penetrated locked doors, shifted wood piles, gravel levels, deposited mud. And quickly receded leaving extensive water and mud damage.
The challenge is the positioning of the road drains one of which is directly opposite our drive entrance which itself is on a downward slope. the water has nowhere to go but down the drive with its lowered curb
What would I like the council to do?
Come and see for themselves the extent of the problem.
Solution 1 - move the drain exit further down the road so that it misses the low curb of our entrance and the water drains off further down the road - probably very expensive. - and this creates a further problem of water in the road which if it freezes creates an ice rink
Solution 2 - build a larger culvert on the opposite (our) side of the road in the drive entrance. This will then syphon off the flood water directly into the (Fawler) brook. which runs alongside the road
