School junction, 19th April

52.984103 -0.229193

This is a school junction that people come speeding through at 60mph. This is supposed to be a 50mph what needs changing waiting for a fatality after a number of accidents. Do something and make this stretch of road safe for not only the young students but also the staff that work here.

Single mattress flytipped by roadside, 18th April

South of the village there is a single mattress that has been left by the side of the road. It’s pink so stands out. I went past in the opposite direction so I didn’t see if anything else was there.

Corner on Star Fen, 12th April

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 16:36:03 +0100
52.998467 -0.263308

Road and vege have collapsed into dike of 2 metres depth. Put a bollard there to warn road users and although not our responsibility we engaged a farmer who cut dike back so those who are using the road can avoid that part of the road where it has given way. We have previously pulled 4 other vehicles out like one in pic attached. The road has collapsed into ditch with the verge. We were told by road workers not to try and repair the ditch as not our responsibility but to report it in to Lincolnshire Highways department.

Although several pot holes have been filled in around the fen and parts of the road improved, (thank you) quite a few remain yet you have closed the complaint (498689). The loose gravel, grass growing and erosion of the road into a 2 metre ditch (separate complaint) have not. As it is a narrow single track road with soft verges we have no alternative but to drive over these pot holes (some still filled with brick rubble). Please send an officer out to check this.

Now totalling over 80 pot holes. Single track road totally eroded from one side to the other with pot holes - some 9cm deep. Neighbours filling with brick rubble and gravel. Nothing has been done for 4 years despite complaints, yet every week small potholes are being repaired in Heckington. We belong to this parish. Star Fen is a well used road by residents and visitors to several businesses. In February the Post Office refused to deliver post claiming road flooded in part. This was because the road has deteriated so badly and presented as deeper than it really was due to the pot holes. Please do something!

Grass growing in centre of single track all around Star Fen, 12th March

Tue, 12 Mar 2024 23:30:28 +0000
52.99534 -0.268288

Grass has been allowed to grow in the centre of the single track road all around Star Fen and down to the Smallholding. This is getting worse, coupled with the pot holes (numbering approximately 80 now) and the degraded road surface. Outside every property entrance the road has given way. Neighbours are filling the pot holes with gravel and bricks....yet single much smaller pot holes in Heckington village are being repaired on a weekly basis. Why are residents of Star Fen being treated like 3rd class citizens, whose cars suffer with each journey. I have been complaining and promised action for 4 years by Highways. See earlier emails.

Build a Future (School) Elm Grange, East Heckington, PE20 3QF - Next Left after B1395, 24th January

Wed, 24 Jan 2024 13:55:14 +0000
52.984239 -0.230021

As I have been driving to work, early morning 7.45am, I have struggled to find the entrance (as have colleagues) and I was looking at lighting up our site better but then noticed that there are street lights but they are never on in a morning. I haven't noticed at night. You can see from the photos attached that it is very gloomy and this could cause accidents. Photos were taken in December but ever since the light has been poor in a morning it is a struggle.

64 potholes, most over 40mm, road narrower than a car tyres on various corners. Grass being allowed to grow in middle of road and gravel from potholes across the roads, creating a dangerous surface. Complaints made over 4 years ago. Superficial attempts have been made to fill a few of the largest holes but the state of the single track road is effecting local businesses and residents (some of which are elderly). Tried to post accompanying pics but website doesn't allow for some reason.

A17 closure at 1am, 6th October

Fri, 06 Oct 2023 09:06:02 +0100

I was driving home from work in lincolnshire to Norfolk early Friday morning, 06/10/23 on the A17 and there were, again, no signs to suggest that the road was closed at Heckington. The diversion signs towards Sleaford were not clear and some were obscured behind trees. This diversion took me via Peterborough to get to Kings Lynn. I understand these important works need to happen, but please can we have some clear signs earlier on the A17 to alert drivers to the situation.
