Good morning and Happy New Year to you all. My fears and worries - that I spoke to the Site Foreman before the Xmas break about, have come true! The fact the trees were removed I believed, was due to him (construction company) 100% behind their removal, at least strpping them back to the stumps they are now is my humble opinion. He gave me his word that no one would be parking on the spot were the trees were removed from - his word was worthless as you can see from the pictures taken this morning at 10am. It has started. He was polite and apologetic for all the parking outside our homes all day every day, limiting the access of Family and Friends, he said he would inform all the site workers that this is residential and would work hard to ensure they don't park here all day - however, they still park here all day. My questions : Why were the trees Pollarded to the degree they were and we have to just suck it up? Why didn't they plant 2 new trees per person who lives here on the Ridings immediately? Have you (Parish Council) any plans to plant trees as per the minutes in past Parish Council meetings I have read online? Do we have any communications from the developer as to the parking of its residents in front of our homes after the project is complete, as why would you pay 7k a year for a parking spot when it's free over the road? Many thanks for your support.

Grass verge being used as car park and turning circle., 5th January

Sun, 05 Jan 2020 09:43:55 +0000
52.988813 -1.039143

PLEASE SAVE THIS GRASS VERGE. The grass verges near the Burton Joyce Primary School entrance on Padleys Lane seem in good condition thanks to the recently installed white plastic bollards which protect the verges from vehicle access even though they are so widely spaced that any ordinary car or van could easily fit between them. However, the verge outside houses 23 and 25 is not similarly protected and has, for the past several months, been damaged by vehicles gaining entrance and/or exit via the 2 tarmac surfaced drives on either side of the verge in order to park or to use the verge as a turning circle. The verge is now a muddy quagmire which is now being spread onto the drives by muddy wheels. The one-time kerbs are now flattened. Below the ground surface there are mains electric cables which were damaged by an unknown vehicle about 10 years ago. This resulted in a 24 hour blackout at numbers 23 and 25. Western Power Distribution should be able to confirm this problem. The soft wet soil gives little protection against vertical force. Please may robust protection now be provided to prevent any vehicle access for either parking or use as a turning circle.

Seriously dangerous pot holes, 1st January

Wed, 01 Jan 2020 11:20:56 +0000
52.992999 -1.028279

From the farm on the main road in Bulcote right to in to the roundabout there are some huge, deep potholes which are very dangerous. Cars are having to go on the other side of the road at 50mph to avoid hitting them. These will cause serious damage to a vehicle. Accidents will occur from people avoiding them.

Flooding of Highway, 16th December

Mon, 16 Dec 2019 09:24:22 +0000
53.004368 -0.998527

Highway Flooding Lowdham, A6097. Affecting lane 1 only of the NORTHBOUND dual carriageway (directly opposite the Gunthorpe Road junction.) After any reasonable quantity of rainfall the road floods across the whole of LANE 1. The problem has been ongoing for some considerable time. The water is DEEP and dangerous to cars and motorbikes. It can be cleared by entering lane 2 - but is a persistent problem that appears to be caused by a blocked drain. (The water collects at the bottom of the nearby railway bridge. Presumably, stones and silts are continuously washed down the road and they have blocked the only key drain servicing this part of the road???) Standing water will be extremely dangerous when it turns to ice in the forthcoming Winter months.

Mon, 16 Dec 2019 09:24:44 +0000

This piece of road (driving due south) has two large and deep potholes that have recently developed. When driving in heavy rain they were impossible to see and caused severe jolting of my car. For a motorbiker / moped user they could easily fetch the rider off. Can this piece of road be re-examined for potholes?

Drain Cover on Roadside - Dislodged, 3rd November

Sun, 03 Nov 2019 20:16:10 +0000
52.986471 -1.037963

Dislodged metal drain cover. This is located in the kerb directly outside St Helen's Church in Burton Joyce. Looks like a heavy vehicle has struck it and flicked it onto its side. It is standing proud of the kerb and poses a trip hazard to pedestrians crossing the road. The metalwork appears to be undamaged, but needs reseating correctly.
