Slippy surface, 18th January
Hello, on the last three occasions when driving back from Nottingham towards Bingham (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday) on the inside lane of the roundabout even though I’ve been going at 15mph I believe there is something making the road surface very slippy. The back wheels of my car slide out and it becomes very dangerous and difficult to control my car in this one spot. It’s as if there’s ice there or oil, something that is making the surface lose grip and cars skid. I know this has been experienced by a number of individuals. Many thanks!

Gravel covering cycle path at Kings Service Station, 7th January
Large pieces of gravel are scattered along the length of the cycle path/footway alongside the Esso service station. There is a risk of cyclist slipping and falling on this. The alternative is to either cut through the garage forecourt or divert onto the road - which in one direction is against the flow of traffic.

Blocked/ sow running culvert, 19th December
The drain which runs east - west on the A52 south side opposite the Esso garage. The drain is heavily overgrown and has approx 4 culverts between granby lane and the main culvert under the A52 , all of which are backed up with debris , the level in the ditch is high as a result but where it reaches the under road culvert the level of the pipes are too high to effectively drain the ditch and are not big enough to cope with the amount of debris . The main culvert is split east west with the western side being bigger and lower but with nowhere near the quantity of water on that side. On tuesday 12th december there was heavy rain which caused the A52 to flood near the garage , this could be avoided in future with the ditch cleared and culvert pipe lowered/ increased in size .

Good afternoon,
Previously, National Highways reported the following:
We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue. If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections. Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people. Growth across the cycle/footpath, 22nd August
Between the fuel service station and the lay-by growth of brambles and other vegetation obstruct the width of path to one bike/pedestrian. To pass pedestrians or cyclists have to tangle with the vegetation or move off the path onto the overgrown verge and closer to the very busy road. This route is the safest path out of Bingham for cyclists and is at times heavily used by cyclists of all abilities. Slower cyclists are unsafe as faster groups pass.

Growth blocking line of sight on cycle path, 3rd August
Between the service station and the end of Granby Lane brambles and other growth of the path side bushes/trees extend two thirds of the way across the cycle path in places and obstruct the view along the cycle path. This problem has been evident since mid June at least and with the wet weather it is growing worse. It is difficult for cyclists and pedestrians to pass. The path has been cleared near Derry Lane but more clearance is needed on this heavily used path to the Prison.

Dangerous Junction, 14th July
The junction is extremely dangerous and is getting busier. Multiple issues with the junction firstly turning left from the a46 on to Tithby Rd (Bingham), vehicles often tailgate leading vehicles to speed round the corner to get out of the way creating a hazard for pedestrians on Tithby Road. Cars turning right from the a46 to Tithby Road (Bingham) block the view of vehicles in the central part of the junction creating a collision risk by blocking the view of oncoming vehicles on the single carriageway. The problem has been bad for at least 7 years but is getting considerably worse with the new houses in Bingham and also multiple bus routes now using the junction regularly.
