Really uneven, potholed surface over some 20 metres of the highway, 4th August
There are so many different surfaces and levels on this section of the road, presumably the result of numerous roadworks in the past, that the surface condition overall is just unacceptable. What astonishes me is that it hasn't been picked up and actioned by Beccles Town Council/NCC Highways before now.

Highway covered with compacted clay-type soil, 22nd May
This problem was reported previously as "mud on road" due to the site excavations adjacent to the A143 at the point indicated. This was during the very wet weather March, and a road sweeper was then seen keeping the road reasonably clear, and so I reported the matter as "fixed". The recent dry spell has however created a different problem in that the heavy clay soil, which is widespread in this area, which has been brought out of the site on truck wheels, seems not to have been cleared away sufficiently thoroughly, and is now compacted on to the westbound highway surface over a distance of around 500 metres. The highway surface is now shiny with dry clay, and I doubt this has any grip for vehicles whatsoever thereby creating a potentially dangerous situation for the safety of road users.

Mud on road from adjacent reservoir construction site, 14th March
The mud from lorries accessing the site has built up over the time since work began several months ago, leaving approximately 200 yards of road surface plastered with mud, causing potentially dangerous driving conditions in wet weather. Regular road-sweeping would alleviate this problem, but to date this does not appear to be happening.

Unnecessary new No Parking restriction, 2nd January
Unnecessary and inappropriate "no parking" sign on layby that has been used for many decades without problem. Layby is the only place for walkers and fishers to park for access to the riverbank, a popular path. Inability to park there in the most suitable and historically established place forces people to park in less appropriate places, mashing the lane's verges or blocking proivate accesses. It is claimed that the householder opposite had access problems due to parking there but none of the previous househoders there have reported problems in the past, neither have emergency services or the dustcart. Council gave planning permission for the driveway in question some 20 years ago - so they clearly saw no problem. It is not right that one NIMBY can move into an area and have removed a local amenity that hs been in use for fifty - sixty years.

Constant Speeding Cars, 20th September
Cars are constantly approaching the sharp bend at the bottom of Ravensmere at dangerously high speeds. There have been several ‘near misses’ involving pedestrians where cars have nearly ploughed into people walking on the path. There needs to be more signage, speed bumps, speed camera and flashing warning signs to prevent dangerous driving.
