Farm Ditches and Drainage need enforcement to clean up, 15th January
After the recent flooding it has become apparent that the land owner who owns the fields on the right hand side of Lound Road as you enter from The Street has not maintained adequate surface water drainage and at some point, when building the bungalows and new housing, has allowed the pond which was located between those properties to be filled in. It would also appear that the new housing at the top of Lound Road, has a pond which is draining via a small, inadequate pipe in to the ditch outside one of the bungalows. The sheer volume of water coming off that field meant that the ditch could not cope and the water cascaded in to the road. Resulting in some 15" of both water and sewerage (as the drains could not cope) spilling in to the road. Both bungalows were underwater and it cannot be acceptable that a Land owner is not made to maintain adequate surface water drainage for both these properties. The Fire Brigade will have compiled a report on the incident they attended recently and I would suggest that the Council take a deeper look at this problem and decline any further building applications on this area until such time as it is proven that adequate water surface drainage is installed. There is a Parish Council meeting this evening 15th January in the village Hall in Blundeston and a Council representative in attendance would be useful to understand the needs of the local residents and perhaps to call upon the Land owner to reinstate the ditches and soak away ponds that have not been maintained for over 20 years it would seem.

Tuesday 2nd January was at its worse. Water hit a high of 14”. This has happened twice recently but an ongoing problem that’s getting worse.

Street lamp not working, 22nd November
Street lamp no.59 located on Lakeside Rise Blundeston at the rear of property no.55 is not working. The ones around the front are the LED's which turn off later in the evening. This one usually stays on all night as it illuminates the area at the back of the properties where the garages are. This makes walking from cars to homes in the pitch black rather unnerving for residents.
