The path leaves (in either direction) a metalled road at grid reference TF 8973 3902 and therefore, the county council must erect and maintain a signpost here (pursuant to the Countryside Act 1968 Section 27(2)). The only signage here consists of the faded remains of a small, ineffective tack sign. Signage needs to be erected and maintained here of sufficient standard to clearly indicate the alignments of the path where it leaves the metalled road in either direction. There is a subtle change in direction of the path here. Finger posts are normally applied where public paths leave metalled roads, and nothing less will do here.
