Blocked storm drain, 13th February

Tue, 13 Feb 2024 12:42:20 +0000
52.864794 1.238976

The storm drain here has been blocked since Christmas despite at least three separate reports to the council. Schoolchildren, pensioners and indeed all pedestrians are forced to walk through several inches of filthy water as therenis no pavement or suitable alternative route. Every time it rains the road floods again, and we live in the UK so that is a frequent occourance!

Dangerous road condition excessive mud, 21st December

Tue, 21 Dec 2021 09:28:58 +0000
52.855782 1.204086

To whom it may concern. Wickmere Parish Council wish to draw to your attention the unacceptable state that the road between Squalham and Matlaske, near the junction with Barningham road is being left in due to continual farm traffic movement to and from the outdoor pig unit recently positioned there. The mud being spread on the road is dangerous. There are no warning signs and the slippery surface continues along the Aldborough road from its junction with the Matlaske road. I understand residents have brought this to your attention previously with no apparent action being taken. Even in the country this is unacceptable. Residents of Squalham are effectively marooned by the mud. As far as can be ascertained there has been no attempt to sweep the road since the pigs were placed there. We have received complaints from residents some of whom have had near misses with other road users. We would ask that you investigate this situation as a matter of urgency and ensure that the road is made safe for all forms of traffic and continues to be safe for the duration of the presence of the pigs. Yours sincerely Wickmere Parish Council

The road has been flooded since at least Tuesday. It's not safe for small vehicles to attempt going through the floodwater. At the same time the other end of Aldborough Road, in Calthorpe, has been closed due to roadworks. We have been essentially trapped here for days. The part of Aldborough Road near Rectory Farm regularly floods badly and needs drainage cutting in.
