Island Bollard Lights, 27th April

Sat, 27 Apr 2024 08:00:27 +0100
52.118859 -0.96627

The recently built central island on the A5 at the Heathencote turn has 2 bollards that look like they should light up but aren’t working. It’s quite dark there and the island is difficult to see without them being lit, particularly as the road layout has recently changed there. Could someone pop by and check the fuse, or maybe stick another 50p in the electricity meter please.

He has moved it on to private land, redirecting it. This has been done without landowners or highways permission. The person is John Preece who has moved this.

Potholes, 14th April

Sun, 14 Apr 2024 19:22:32 +0100
52.116384 -0.961423

Not specifically this location on the A5, but this stretch of the A5, which was resurfaced a year ago is already getting potholes. It would be prudent to repair them before they get out of hand as previously occured. This section of the A5 is often used as a diversion when the M1 is closed. The added volume of HGV's causes further damage to a road that is already extremely busy with all types of vehicles.

Lack of appropriate signage, 4th April

Thu, 04 Apr 2024 12:46:10 +0100
52.119017 -0.966022

The T junction of the A5 and Shutlanger Road has been designed to stop right hand turns towards Towcester. This is due to the proximity to the new roundabout for the relief road. Each time I walk up the A5 towards the junction from either Towcester on the A5, or walking up the Shutlanger road there is very often someone turning right ignoring the left only signs in the road and the singular sign on the right hand side as you approach the junction from Shutlanger. All no right turn junctions have a sign directly opposition the junction, therefore obvious to anyone attempting to turn right. As can be seen from the attached photo of the signage opposite Shutlanger road there is no such no right trim sign. The reason there is no right turn is due to the short distance from the roundabout and risk of collision, this is a national highways requirement, why have both national highways and West Northants council failed to pick up on this and correct the situation by adding the no right turn sign to the lampposts opposite Shutlanger road. I have sent this to both organisations, as I know there are grey areas of responsibility, but someone needs to pick this up and run with it.

Old sofa fly tipped on green public area, 25th February

Sun, 25 Feb 2024 16:07:13 +0000

Someone has dumped an old sofa on public Greenland at the beginning of the weekend. It is now soaked, destroying the grass and no-one seems in any rush to move it. CAN WE START FINING FLY TIPPERS SO THEY DON’T KEEP DOING IT? This piece of green land seems to be repeatedly used by the same people to dump their waste until someone else cleans it up.
