Generally poor road condition, with particular problems, 8th February
I make this note in my capacity as Secretary to Holy Trinity Parish Church Council, Charwelton Parish Church being situated at the southeast end of Church Street. To the proliferation of potholes already reported must be added the frequent instances of the road edges having deteriorated to a significant extent, not least in the immediate proximity of the barn mid-way along the road. I suspect the general roadside degradation is in part caused by vehicles having to drive off the tarred surface onto private farmland (in effect, trespassing) to avoid potholes. Not only is the widespread poor road surface likely to cause damage to car wheels and/or tyres, the fact that most regular worshippers at Holy Trinity are aged between 65 and 85 creates an additional risk when drivers have to get out of their cars onto an unsound surface to open and close the gates.
