Dangerous road surface, 1st April
The road surface on the dual carriageway section of the A48 between Crick and Caerwent is in a dangerous state of repair. The road has been neglected for years leading to dozens of potholes which have been so badly repaired the road now has a mogul field for drivers to navigate. Many drivers are using the overtaking lanes by default since the left lane on both sides of the carriageway are too damaged and/or badly repaired to use - maintaining control of the vehicle in these lanes is difficult and using the road at all is an increased risk at maintaining control and to damage to one's vehicle. MCC seem to have acknowledged that the road is in a badly damaged state but have simply erected "Temporary Road Surface" signs in response - as if somehow that makes it safe again. I'm not sure what MCC's definition of temporary actually is, but the signs have been there close to two years, if not longer, and nothing has actually been done about the problem.

Road breaking up and pot holes, 26th March
Yet again still reporting this road damage and potholes for more than 2 years. Photos don’t show the true state of the damage. Could I request that this section of road is looked at and repaired correctly rather than just tapping down loose tarmac that breaks up again in a few weeks. Every time something travels over this section of road leads to further damage and even more is caused when it starts to rain. Council are now spending money on creating new path ways surly the road is a priority as this is the main access to peoples properties and the business premises at this location. Looking forward to the way ahead many thanks

A48 East and West boubnd at Caerwent to Crick, the road is worse than a dirt track due to substandard work., 24th March
In relation to Monmouthshire Service request 19734748 Monmouthshire council states this potholed ridden road as service / fixed. I beg to differ. I saw the team on this and it can only be described as dire. The potholes were not cut-out / prepared, with tarmac simply dumped in them and rolled. The rolling was to such a poor standard that this road is still as bump, but now with ridges, not potholes. The team who did this need to be disciplined and the person who signed it off as complete should be “let go”. Taxes are not paid for such shoddy standard work. The road is in poor condition both east and west bound that is it better to drive in the right hand lane. This needs to be re-done at an acceptable standard, and not just tarmac dumped in a hole with no preparation and no post sealant.
