Illegal use of disabled parking bay, 19th March

Tue, 19 Mar 2024 21:01:19 +0000
51.594394 -2.982953

This space is constantly being used illegally. The residents on this street seem to think that the disabled bay won't be needed during the evening. The photos attached is of someone using during the day. There is someone illegally in that space now and it's 20:55. I have reported this to my council but they won't have people checking parking during the evenings. The space is used throughout the day, not all day, randomly throughout the day, yet the evenings, there is always someone using it. This has been going on for at least the duration of me living in this street (Dean Street NP19 7FD) and that's over 7 years. A friend of mine is disabled and a blue badge and cannot walk too far, so more often than not will return home instead of visiting me because they can't get to my house due to no spaces being close enough. That disabled bay is just two houses away from my door.

Uneven road surface and potholes around speed humps, 18th March

Mon, 18 Mar 2024 09:47:10 +0000
51.614048 -2.954782

The road surfaces around the speed humps - all bar one - have eroded along Usk Road. Any vehicle that has a low clearance now scrapes over the obstructions when road wheels straddle the hump. Parking along this stretch and oncoming traffic means that they have to be straddled as opposed to rolled over. However, when using the latter option, even at very low speeds - crawling rates, those of us with spinal issues then have to suffer in other ways as the rise/fall of the humps is so great. These issues have been reported multiple times and still nothing is done. It’s as if the Council doesn’t mind discriminating against the less physically abled. And with introduction of the 20MPH limit, why are they now necessary?
