The concrete section of the road across the Ford is starting to disintegrate. The heavy rains have caused this process to speed up and now the concrete structure is comprised and degrading badly leaving holes across the span of the road. These are not visible when the ford’s running with water and will eventually cause traffic damage.

A Potholes problem has been found, 15th April
B6346 between Chatton and Alnwick is in a poor condition. Motorists are having to drive in the middle of the road to avoid potholes.

Many potholes that are unavoidable, 9th March
Hello there, the whole lane unfortunately has potholes and that are sharp and unavoidable, they have been patched before but are now worse then they have been previously. This road leads to a farm but also to a caravan site, and we have had complaints about damage to vehicles and vans due to the road.

Blocked road drain causing flooding, 9th February
I originally reported this on 13th Nov last year under ref 5205522. You since closed the case down but not resolved the issue. The road drain (opposite the Chillingham road sign) is full of debris and causing water to flood across the road meaning cars / pedestrians have to move to the middle of the road. Water is also backing up onto the grass verge and causing standing water in the farm field. I’ve unblocked the road drain for you on the opposite side of the road (the one under the Chillingham sign) and this is running freely - however the other needs your action.

Hi Is there any news please on my two previous requests for a grit bin at at the lane end at Hepburn. The T junction is dangerous near Hepburn. I have contacted twice in Jan 23 and Dec 23 but hear nothing back. In the recent snow and ice it was again very dangerous. Previous enquiries 101008161840 Jan 23, 101008161840 Dec 23. thanks Simon

The road is seriously icy and dangerous as on a long slope - accidents are very likely as like an ice road, 6th December

Blocked road drains, 13th November
The road drains are blocked and not allowing rain water to flow away - this is causing floodwater to stand across the road and the verge. The drains need clearing out and washing through to remove the built up dirt and debris. I’ve been able to temporarily clear one of the drains (under the Chillingham sign) but it’s still full of debris. The one on the other side of the road is fully blocked. The standing water on the road is causing vehicles to swerve to the centre of the road. I’ve also reported a similar issue (ref 5148154) and it would make sense to link these together to resolve.

Blocked road drain causing standing water on the road, 28th October
The drain is fully blocked with earth and debris causing rain water to build up on the road. All of the drains on this road would benefit from a good wash through. The blocked one has been like this for at least 18 months - I have previously reported it but nothing was done.

Ford entrance/exit washed away and obstruction, 18th October
The bank sides of this ford have been washed away and the farmer has built fences on each side blocking entry to the crossing. Ideally it would be good if these could be repaired by using cement and prevent them being washed away in the future.
