A Potholes problem has been found, 9th January
A large and significant pothole on the road towards Wingates farm, Longhorsley (from the Forget me not Caravan Park) caused damage to my vehicle on 30.12.2023.
The damage caused was to two tyres. As it was raining, the pothole was full of water so difficult to identify. Photos of the tyre damage are attached.
I have had to replace two tyres and the garage has confirmed the damage is a direct result of a large pothole. The invoice is attached to confirm the purchase of two tyres and confirmation of which tyres were damaged, and that this was a direct result of a pothole. Indeed, I was told by the garage it was unsafe to even drive the car as the bludges were so bad.
Northumberland Council is responsible for the maintenance of this road as maintenance and safety falls under the remit of the local authority. It is a large and significant pothole as you can see from the photos attached and it is clear from the state of the pothole this isn't recent.
I've been made aware the pothole had already been reported to you, and no repairs have yet been made, further evidence that you are not maintaining the road safely or fixing potholes.

No winter gritting in place, 5th December
The stretch of road through Netherwitton village and out past South Healey Farm, Healey Mill and Nunnykirk is never gritted in icy/snowy weather. The centre of the village is treacherous in these conditions as is the condition of the road. Once on a school bus route however it all improves. Please can you review.

Road surface breaking up badly, 30th October
I ride a motorbike and have reported problems with this stretch of road (between this corner and the next) many time during the last year with no real sign of improvement. This is not just a pothole problem. The surface is so bad on the actual bends that it is a real risk to anyone on two wheels. The only way that I can negotiate this corner safely is to carefully use the wrong side of the road. The risk of a serious accident is high.
